you'll read book grace describing his own apartment and then you read him describing his classroom and you want to strangle him. you just want to strangle him a little bit
single man's meal in a single man's apartment. small, tidy (empty). a tv, a microwave, a picture of the san francisco skyline that probably came with the place. nothing else of note. but step one foot in his memory of the classroom he's worked in every day for years and he still gloats about it. look, look! the Jacob's ladder in the corner that he keeps unplugged. there, an entire collection of animals preserved in formaldehyde—did he preserve the fake egg and spaghetti jar in that tidy little kitchen he doesn't use? no i bet that was at school also, with the one single class that would never fall for his favourite prank. and my favourite, and i have to quote this one: "And gracing the center of the ceiling was my pride and joy—a huge mobile that was a model of the solar system. Jupiter was the size of a basketball, while wee Mercury was as small as a marble."

Watching Project Hail Mary again but recontexualising the celebration scene with the idea of Rocky thinking Grace giving him the earth beanbag is a courting gift. Like in Rocky's mind they both know that after this they'll never see each other again but Grace is giving him a courting gift anyway because this is their last opportunity to tell each other how they feel. And Rocky wasn't going to confess because he knew they could never be together, they had two different planets to return to and that'd be one hella crazy long distance relationship. But Grace was giving him a courting gift anyway? "So that you remember me." Is to Rocky such a simple but romantic way of saying even though they'd be apart they still love each other and would be loyal to each other. And it just makes Rocky's sad little "Didn't get you anything" so much sadder because he wants to reciprocate but wasn't prepared because he thought they were just going to seperate and never talk about how they felt! And then Grace says that it'd be cool to see his ship and oh god Rocky is smitten. Grace just gave him a courting gift and upon Rocky not having anything to present back Grace tells him that he wants to see the one part of Rocky that he hasn't yet, that that would be enough, just show him a piece of your world because he wants so badly to understand everything about you he can before he can never see you again

Spouse drew more PHM for me 🥰 I asked them to draw Rocky doing a 4-legged kabedon with Grace. Once again Rocky is dressed in the mission jumpsuit I talked about in this other post. They also did a version of Rocky in his environmental suit that lets him actually go into Grace's side of the habitat...
Most of the suit is a hard shell (possibly with a fabric covering for Grace's comfort) and two soft arms, also for comfort. It's for uh. Social grooming. Both humans and Eridians need physical touch to stay emotionally healthy. Very important for your bro to brush your hair, rub your back, and hold your hands when you're laying down to go to sleep.
(They have a whole bedtime and wake-up grooming routine for Grace.)

How to get Eridian POV and texture reader effects in Procreate
Hi yall! Thanks so much for the support! I had some interest in how I did the eridian pov so I thought I’d do a tutorial. Ft. Prism, Quartz, and floating Grace.
First things first. Huge creds to this video.
This might be a little convoluted but it’s how I did it lol. Comment anything else you’ve tried/found out. Here goes
Set saturation to 0. Duplicate layer. Invert. Vivid light. Move slightly by tapping anywhere. Duplicate original layer. Combine top 2. Set to overlay. Combine. Invert. Add multiply and add layers for where sound would/wouldn’t reach. Use luminosity brush for the loudest sounds.
For the texture reader:
(If you plan out the lights and darks better than I did you can make individual objects pop out more)
