(KDKA) CLARION The usual calm and tranquility of Clarion's autumn leaf festival was marred by a vicious attack early this morning.

KDKA's Ross Guidotti reports the men involved are from Monroeville, Pittsburgh and Port Allegheny and now one of them is fighting for his life.

"The suspect in this case went up to the porch area stabbed the three individuals initially," said Clarion Police Chief Mark Hall. "When the officers arrived, we found 4 males had been stabbed."

But what started, what would turn out to be a quadruple stabbing and assault at a Clarion Borough home, is still being investigated.

What's known is of the victims -- ages 19 to 26.

The three victims on the porch suffered back and arm stab wounds.

But they managed to get a hold of the knife.

According to police, that's when the three young men gained control of the situation and turned on their attacker.

"What ensued after that was he was stabbed and suffered a head injury," said Chief Hall. "It's a pretty severe head injury."

Right now, no names are being released.

The initial attacker remains in grave condition at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

All four individuals could face charges.

Clarion Police tell KDKA that the man who they say initiated the attack was sighted for an alcohol violation earlier in the evening but all four men involved were intoxicated at the time of the incident.
