The one-eyed boob tube
1. Sarah Connor Chronicles S2: OMG, Shirley Manson of Garbage!!!! I had not known about that in advance! AWESOME.
2. Friday Night Lights: My main reaction so far is one very short thing - I miss Tyra and Lyla SO VERY MUCH.
3. So I finished watching Angel. It took over a year to do all 12 seasons of the Buffyverse in this rewatch. A major project. I think it's actually very brave and commendable to have such an ambiguous and sad ending to a TV show, and I applaud going out like that. On the other hand, destroying Fred's soul is not on. In any story universe with immortal souls, destroying them always gets me so upset. Also, I do not like these rumors I have heard that Gunn gets vamped in the S8 comics. :( And I will never forgive the writers for having bowdlerized Connor accept and appreciate what Angel did to him, because I still have not forgiven Angel for that, nor do I believe that original Connor would feel that way. The only one who told it like it is in regards to that was Cordelia. Overall my favorite part of S5 was Spike insulting Angel. But alternately, I liked the end of Buffy way more this time around than I did when it first aired. It worked much better having watched the whole thing through than having only caught parts of it. ....And I think the Angel theme song remains my favorite TV theme song ever.
4. Supernatural: I Believe The Children Are Our Future: There was an antichrist and it WASN'T Sam. Castiel got turned into an action figure. Dean was all scientifical with his gloves and goggles and trying out the buzzer, and then he ATE the results. And Sam was squicked. And then Dean with the hairy palms! Using Sam's razor! And the bitchface and the smirk! And that poor woman who was possessed and impregnated, how awful, but she managed to kick a demon out, which means it is not only special people like Goddy and Bobby who can do so (I've been annoyed at how it kinda seems to blame the victim to say that, you know, if you just tried harder, you could prevent yourself from being possessed).
Changing Channels: The theme song! Sam as the Impala! Dean watchesGrey's Anatomy sexy doctor soaps and they hate crime procedurals! Sam copied the wacky Horatio Caine posture so PERFECTLY that it was VERY CREEPY. And they did the move where he puts on his sunglasses of righteousness to signal that the bad guys are going down: but it was SUNGLASSES AT NIGHT (there was also recently a hilarious scene about sunglasses at night in the Jonas TV show). And Dean's crush on Dr. Sexy M.D. - I think that was text. I. What? I am so confused here. I swear that was TEXT about DEAN finding a MAN to be SEXY. Also, SPN has jumped to an amazing new level for TV: now instead of just thinking "hey, I've read this fic before" we can think "hey, I've watched this vid before." (Then I was annoyed by the Trickster being an angel because damnit, there should be options outside the Bible!)
And overall: LUCIFER Lucifer Lucifer. So awesome this season. Yay for Lucifer!
5. I haven't watched S2 of Merlin yet, but in discussing it recently, a decision was reached that it is not actually set in the past: it is set in a post-apocalyptic future. So some of the magic may be the remains of high tech, and some may be magic. But that explains why they have things that would be anachronisms in the past!

Also, the more I use that framing to watch Merlin (because really - I HAVE to do that, otherwise it makes me want to throw things at the wall while I watch it) the more I REALLY want world-building fic about the Merlin universe that takes that as its starting point. Is the magic that people do really magic, or just the result of too much genetic experimentation? Did they go back to kings because the world ended under the rule of a tyrannical dictatorship, or did the people who were trying to reconstruct society only have historical documents from the days of feudalism, because everything was destroyed during the blast? HOW did the world end? I have seriously become invested in this idea, and I don't even know how this happened!

I really want fic about that TOO. SOMEONE SHOULD DO IT. Ohhhh, genetic experimentation!!!
