Leaps and Bounds

So, Kaitlyn's been "crawling" for awhile now (since she was 5 1/2 months). But this crawl is more of a move a couple paces forward and flop down. Get up and do it again.

Yesterday she crawled normally, she pulled up to standing and she started to sit up on her own. All in one day.

She LOVES to pull herself up to standing. She stands there holding on and just grins and giggles. She'll be cruising in no time with how she works! She's still doing everything today and nothing is safe anymore. I had stuff on the coffee table and she can reach it. *sigh* I'm in trouble now!

BAH!

The joys of nursing are over :( Not only is she fighting me now (she'll be 6 months on Wednesday), but TOM showed up today (time of month) for the first time. I'm so disappointed!

Mmm, cereal!

We fed Gabriel cereal for the first time last night. It's hard to believe that he is almost 4 months old! He made the cutest little scrunched up face at the first bite and suffered through a few more. Then I let him nurse.

The doctor said we could begin solids at 4 months, and since I was having a problem with making enough milk, I figured we'd start early. I was watching for the signs that a baby is ready for solids, and he was showing them all - he can sit supported, he can take a spoon (of course, we had to spoon feed him when he was a few days old because he wouldn't take a bottle or nipple at first), and he was showing a whole lot of interest in what we were eating, among other signs I don't remember right now.

I've been having a hard time nursing lately. It never seemed like there was enough, and there wasn't really a reason for a decrease. I started drinking more water and poof, my milk was back, so he ended his first solid food feeding very satisfied for the first time in days. Guess I was dehydrated, but I didn't feel it. I was going to go out and get some fenugreek, but I'm glad that I haven't had to so far, because it's expensive.

This morning I fed him cereal again and he is such a quick learner! By the end of the meal, Gabriel was swallowing it a lot better instead of letting it drool down his chin and he was opening up for the cereal before I got the spoon to his mouth - even while I was still getting cereal on the spoon. I think he likes the taste, now that he's used to it. In another week or so we'll try the other food I got (I picked up carrots, sweet potato, pears, applesauce, chicken and beef). I can't give him more than one new food every 5 days or so, and since I already know he's allergic to something in my milk, we'll have to go slowly so we can figure it out.

Turning over!

Pictures of Gabriel's first rolling over from stomach to back! 14 weeks, 2 days. Grandma, Grandpa and Great-Grandma were in from MN to see it, and my dad got it on video! Sorry, the pictures are blurry, but Gabe was kicking and crying as he tried to get over! Huge pics, dial-up beware!

Roll on over!

This morning, Kaitlyn rolled over 3 times! It's official, she can roll over! She's rolled over before (2 times), but I think it was a fluke both times (once was at 3 weeks and once on Memorial Day).

Finally figured out how to post to different communities after 2 years on LJ!

Name: Autumn
Baby's Name: Kaitlyn, female
Age: 14 weeks (Feb. 23, 2006)
Where live?: North Carolina

My children are both amazing (I have a 3 year old also). They grow so quickly and are so full of love. I sometimes have a hard time with my son now that he's 3 1/2, and even though I threaten to trade him in sometimes, I wouldn't trade having him for the world. My daughter is a joy to me. I can't believe God has given me these gifts. She's so different from her brother. I love to see them interact (when I'm not reminding Caleb to be careful - something he's not very good at when he's excited). Kaitlyn won't laugh for me but she loves to laugh for her brother.

Kaitlyn rolled over once, but hasn't continued. She's taking things much slower than Caleb did. It's definitely okay. Not sure we'll have anymore after this so I'm enjoying her infant-hood!

Welcome to christianbabies, for parents with a child under 2 years old. Introduce yourself!

Name: Candice
Baby's Name and Sex: Gabriel, and it's a boy!
Age: 3 months today
Where do you live? North Carolina
Most amazing thing you've learned from your child? That kids learn super fast. Two days ago he couldn't turn over at all. Yesterday he got from his back to his side and then to his stomach. He hates his stomach, but he was just smiling at his accomplishment!
Any other comments?
