Recently I was able to connect with Lightwatch, an alternative rock band from Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The band recently released their debut LP, Into The Evers last December and is already gaining a loyal following based on their high-energy performances. The band is hitting the road soon, and tour dates can be found below.
Thanks for your time today! Lightwatch released a great new single called “Nicotine.” Can you describe what went into the writing and recording process of this song?
“Nicotine” was written about the struggle of trying to stop using vapes and cigarettes as a teenager surrounded by people using them. Trey wrote it in the van on the way to a show in about an hour. Recorded and mixed at Ivy Manor Studios, “Nicotine” marks the first release for Lightwatch since our freshman LP Into the Evers.
Your new album, Into The Evers, released last December and is already getting some attention from what I hear. How do you measure success as a band?
Success to us doesn’t mean everybody rolling in cash or anything. We really just want to sustain ourselves comfortably and do what we love–connecting with audiences wherever they’ll listen. The fact that we’ve reached over 100,000 streams on a collection of our art is something we’re very proud of. It tells us that what we’re doing has meaning and substance.
Where did you and your bandmates find the inspiration for most of the lyrics in your new LP, Into The Evers?
Into the Evers, as our first release and something that took years to write, draws on a lot of different experiences and phases of our lives. Some of the songs were written for no reason other than wanting sick riffs, and some were written about deeply personal experiences like witnessing a family member go through addiction.
How would you encapsulate a typical concert from Lightwatch? And, can you describe you and your bandmates’ on-stage personas?
The energy at a Lightwatch is just honest rock n roll. No frills or puffy shirts or bell bottoms, just blue jeans and jams. The shows cover the whole spectrum of making you laugh, cry and want to hit something.
What does the rest of 2026 look like for Lightwatch? Any news coming up that you care to share with people who check out your music?
We’ve got a lot to be excited about this year, from music releases to some awesome support shows, and a full blown headlining tour in the summer. Keep up with us on social media at @lightwatchofficial to make sure you don’t miss anything awesome!
