On the occasion of District Day Celebration, Chirang District Administration organized a series of events, including Smriti Tarpan at the office premises of the District Commissioner, Chirang. The Health Department, Chirang, led a procession to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco on human life. Additionally, the Social Welfare Department, Chirang, organised a procession to promote awareness on gender mainstreaming.The District level launching of Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 was flagged off by Hon'ble District Commissioner, Chirang, Sri Jatin Bora, who also inaugurated the mass Signature campaign.
The 21st District Day celebrations were commemorated with great fanfare, marked by a cultural evening that brought together distinguished guests, esteemed officials and artistes. The proceedings commenced with a solemn Shraddhanjali ceremony, accompanied by the ceremonial lighting of lamp.In a significant gesture, the souvenir book, 'Mwnabili', was released in the presence of the District Commissioner and other dignitaries, highlighting the district's rich history, cultural heritage, and progress. The event was graced by the presence of notable attendees, including Sri Jiten Narzary (Retd. ACS), the inaugural District Commissioner of Chirang, Sri Carol Narzary (Retd. ACS and former DC ), Executive Director, IOCL, Bongaigaon Refinery, Dhaligaon, renowned artistes from various fiels, Padmashri Awardee Sri Sarbeswar Basumatary were among others.The ceremony was followed by a vibrant cultural programme that showcased the district's rich cultural heritage through music, dance, Nagara Naam, reflecting the diversity and creativity of the people. The evening's events were a testament to the district's commitment to preserving and promoting its unique cultural identity.
