In NYC for a while

My mother is almost 85 and lives in Forest Hills -- so far, with a home health aide who comes in daily. Last fall, a small house next door to my brother Tom's house in Minneapolis came on the market, and we persuaded her to buy it.

Now it's time to get her actually moved to Minneapolis and to sell the Forest Hills house. Right now, my mother is visiting Minneapolis, and I'm staying in the Forest Hills house, decluttering it and starting to pack stuff up.

It's a lonely task, especially in a house full of memories.

So I would really welcome an hour or two of assistance from any of my friends in the area.

Lois Mangan

Another friend and filker is gone.

Lois Mangan was great. At my first filkcon (Concertino, 1995), when I didn't know many people, she started talking with me in the con suite and made me feel very welcome. It was always good to see her, and I wish we'd had her around for much longer.

As thnidu wrote about her, filk recruiting really was her game.

It was a good NEFFA. I got to see Mike Agranoff do a concert set for an audience which contained at least half-a-dozen other excellent folk performers. There's a definition of a "musician's musician"!

Thanks to tigerbright, we are sending 3 teddy bears (2 of them very huggable) and a long-eared stuffed rabbit to lovensong87 and kyttn.

Money is important, household essentials are... essential, but I'v found that a teddy bear to hug is right up there, too, when dealing with a loss like filkergem.

Changing

Tonight I'm packing to go to conterpoint.

Tomorrow will be my last day of 9-to-5 work (which I've been doing since December 2006).

Friday through Monday, I'll be at Conterpoint, filking and hanging out with filkers!

And on Tuesday, I will go back to working second shift at my job -- 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with a three-day weekend every week!

Wish me luck...
