A Simple Boardgame (Benny Dummy Lyrics?, to Endgame tune. An Anatoly V. Freddie song?)
You're a paternal supervisor And a notorious womanizer You're the epitome of everything that I hate You're the eternal troublemaker And a notorious promise-breaker You're the epitome of everything that you fight The longer you wait, the better offer The deal I have in mind ??????? What did you think, you'd be a hero? If this was a race Then you'd be losing ????? future I see ???????? Floating in my mind I see them ????? places -----
Every Good Man (Heaven Help my Heart tune, was meant to be an ABBA song?)
Every good man needs a helping hand So I travel alone If I can Every man has a guiding star And he knows What he's gonna to get when he's gone too far Living on the darkside once again It's sad to lose a friend Looking at things with empty feelings Seeing the fallen ??? Every good man needs a helping hand I should have known, too Some of us learn too late, I'm sorry, Every good man needs a helping hand It's true **REPEAT** -----
Just Like That (no corresponding tune, Sung by Elaine Paige)
We always lost? now that he's gone ???? Putting you on I'm only playing games I see others but I can't recall their names A vicious circle that I can't seem to break The constant aching every morning I wake But in the urge to ???? And again and again (cuts off here) ---
When the Waves Roll Out to Sea (no corresponding tune, sung by Elaine Paige)
Until that day my life has been a river In a safely destinated course Suddenly detouring unexpectedly With uncompromising force My stronghold broken down all too easily I remember well how it did embarrass me I hung onto his every smile Marveled at his style
And when the waves roll out to sea I know that he Won't return for yet another year I'll be waiting for him on this windy pier Until I see what's become of me
And once again the river's flowing slowly In it's own uneventful course And my love affair becomes a memory I recall without remorse But all the time I wonder where he is And I will admit he has something that I miss I guess he was a roaming star The only one I've known
And when the waves roll out to sea I know that he won't return For many days to come I'll be waiting on this windy pier yet another year And when the waves roll out to sea ??? every time that ????? I'm a woman with a wound that always burns And I'm forever waiting Will I see what's become of me?
Documentation Time. Please feel free to ignore this if you know nothing about Chess :3 In other news? I need a Chess Icon. Seriously. EDIT: Done. You're welcome world.

To be noted: Nobody's Side, Merchandisers, and Anthem seem to be the same during this "recording process". Interesting. Rice claims a few times that Freddie is "not in love or in a sexual relationship with Florence" Obviously this sentiment changes later, because at the VERY least in the 2008 version, they have a CLEAR relationship.
Copy Pasta from Chess' Wikipedia page just so I can find it easier later:
"In late 2001, rumors began to circulate about a new production in Stockholm. Written entirely in Swedish, with lyrics and book by Björn Ulvaeus, Lars Rudolffson, and Jan Mark, it attempted to streamline the story back to its original form and eliminate the aspects of political potboiler that had come to define the show. Featuring new musical numbers (Svetlana's "Han är en man, han är ett barn" ("He is a man, he is a child") and Molokov's "Glöm mig om du kan" ("Forget me if you can")) and focusing on material from the concept album, the Stockholm version was a drastic rewrite. Plot Synopsis (Summary and Song List) - (Verbatim handout in English which was given to English speakers who purchased tickets to the live production. Only additions to this verbatim text are corrected misspellings and commas for clarity. All names [Anatolij, Vaszi, etc.], places, etc. are transcribed verbatim from the CHESS - PLOT SUMMARY handout received at Stockholm Cirkus.)
DAY 1
The Russian chessplayer Anatolij Sergievski leaves his family's suburban apartment in Moscow to depart for the World Chess Championships 1986 (Story of Chess). At the airport, he is greeted by the KGB-man and his advisor Molokov and another few KGB-men (Where I want to be).
In the Italian town Merano they meet the American chessplayer Freddie Trumper and his advisor Florence Vaszi. Freddie causes a scandal in the hotel vestibule when he insults Anatolij. The incident results in a fight between Freddie and Florence who remembers how her father was captured in Hungary when she was small (Autumn '56).
Florence ends up in the hotel's disco and tries to drown her sorrows (Nobody's on Nobody's side).
DAY 2
The Chess tournament is inaugurated with a ceremony performed by the arbiter (The Arbiter). During the first game Freddie loses his temper and leaves the room (Quartet).
In the evening Florence is sitting alone and miserable in the bar. The Russian player Anatolij walks past and makes contact with her. An attraction and excitement arises between them and they leave the hotel together (Someone Else's Story.)
When Molokov discovers that Anatolij has disappeared, panic breaks out in the Soviet camp, the secret police is alerted.
In Moscow, Anatolij's wife Svetlana and their son are discreetly taken from a church by some KGB-men, to be taken to serve as bait for Anatolij in the west.
Anatolij decides to apply for political asylum, and together with Florence he goes to the American consulate. Later a large press conference is organized there due to the recent incident (Mountain Duet).
From the press conference, Freddie gains knowledge of Anatolij's asylum seeking. Anatolij is forced to confront his innermost thoughts regarding the defection (Anthem).
Intermission.
DAY 3
At the hotel room, Freddie accusingly shows the newspaper to Florence which contains pictures of her with the Soviet player. The confrontation ends with her leaving him (Florence Quits / Pity the Child.)
Svetlana and her son arrive at the hotel in Merano accompanied by two KGB-men. Anatolij's feelings and loyalty are tested by Svetlana and KGB (Endgame). Anatolij leaves the hotel.
Alone, Florence realizes what she truly feels (Heaven Help my Heart). At the same time a confused Svetlana goes in search of her husband (Who am I).
In a celebration of spring in Merano, Anatolij and Florence meet and share a short time of happiness in the crowds of the carnival. Suddenly, Freddie appears and there is a big confrontation (The Deal).
In the calm after the fight, Florence and Anatolij confide in each other (You and I).
DAY 4
At a press conference, the judge informs that the games will continue (The Arbiter).
Florence and Svetlana meet by chance and a fight over Anatolij ensues (I know him so well).
Plagued by his conscience, Molokov remembers his great love (Forget me if you can). Nevertheless, he still carries out his threat: If Anatolij joins the west, his family will suffer. He must forfeit the game, blame it on his health and claim that he must return to Moscow.
Anatolij makes his choice, loses the game to save his family ("Capablanca" choir). After the game, Anatolij and Florence say their last sad farewells and part (You and I / Story of Chess)."
Holy heck Batman. I am deep into the crazy right now. I hope that I cool my passion a bit after I finish listening to all these new soundtracks. Knowing me? It's kinda unlikely.
Script made from what I can hear/infer. Will be working on this for awhile. When it's done I'll post it somewhere if anyone can think of a place I should? zedille any suggestions on where? XD Any corrections are happily accepted because my ears aren't great.
Here is where I ramble about Chess FOREVER. Ignore if you don't care :D
Okay so lately been playing Mage: The Awakening with "Freddie" as my character. It has made Chess ever so much on the brain. I got a lot of Chess soundtracks lately (due to a kind person over on an LJ community pointing me to some links) the one I've been making my way through is from Sydney and I gotta say this version is MAGICAL. Very unique, it's such a fascinating amalgamation with TONS of added lyrics and songs. Holy cow. I didn't think I'd ever get a chance to hear it, I'm SO HAPPY I have.
I went over the script as I went. Because well. CHESS JOY COMA! Snippets for me to enjoy later. :D
----- MOLOKOV The Soviet delegation has reasons [sic] to believe that the American player's chair contains communications devices, and therefore objects to the constitution of that chair -
FLORENCE That's impossible! Both chairs were made in (she examines them) Sweden - therefore, they are neutral chairs.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ------
MOLOKOV The Soviet delegation objects to the wearing of reflective dark glasses -
ARBITER Objection overruled. (Florence and her delegation whip our dark glasses in revenge)
This MUST happen in our Radio play SOMEHOW. ---
FREDDIE Hold it! Stop the clock! (He bangs down the timer on top of the clock)
(Anatoly looks bewildered, holding his spoon a few inches from his mouth)
FREDDIE What is that?
ANATOLY What is what?
FREDDIE (points) That.
ANATOLY This is yogurt. Would you like some?
MOLOKOV We are entitled under the match rules to provide our player with refreshments -
FREDDIE (jumping to his feet) You are not entitled to assist your player by delivering him messages -
MOLOKOV Messages?
ANATOLY (in Russian to Molokov) What is he doing? [phonetically: Shtoe on dzyeh-lai-yet]
FREDDIE I'm not stupid! I've been watching. Yesterday, 20th move, strawberry; 35th move, honey. Today, 20th move, banana. Each time just before he changes tack. You're giving him signals! Strawberry means do this, banana means do that - it's cheating!
MOLOKOV This is absolutely insane! You are deliberately attempting to sabotage this game because you are losing -
FREDDIE (to the Arbiter, who has been maintaining a calm objectivity) Are you gonna do anything about this?
ARBITER Mr. Trumper, you are dangerously close to being penalized -
FREDDIE C'mon you said you were on the case - (awkward pause) or are you in on this too?
FLORENCE Freddie -
FREDDIE Florence! You do something about this!!
MOLOKOV (thumping table as Florence tries to calm Freddie) I tell him! Unless this ridiculous interruption is penalized -
FREDDIE (shouting them both down) Mr. Arbiter! Florence! Take note that unless I receive a full and formal written apology from the Soviets for their player's unsportsmanlike behavior, and dishonest behavior, I shall be on the next plane out of this dump and will be taking legal action to have this match awarded to me by default!
Uh yes. This is the best scene in the history of EVER. Freddie being a sore loser at it's BEST. XD Yogurt. Lulz. And the way Aussie's say banana isss pretty much the most AWESOME thing in the history of time. ----
(Walter and Molokov exit. The actions of Anatoly and Freddie are echoed in dance by the two warriors. The scene transforms into the chess arena during the following) ANATOLY (turning on Freddie) YOU TAUGHT ME FREDDIE HOW THE FEW WHO WIN ACQUIRE WHAT THEIR HEARTS DESIRE IT'S NOT PRACTICE, IT'S NOT SKILL THEY'LL HELP, BUT NOT AS MUCH AS LOVING WILL.
FREDDIE (challenging Anatoly) NO CONTEST, COMRADE PAY NO MIND TO REPUTATION YOU WANT CONCENTRATION? WHEN THEY PICK YOU OFF THE FLOOR YOU'LL KNOW I WANTED IT A LITTLE MORE
ANATOLY YOU CAN WIN YOU CAN LOSE TAKE OR BE A POSSESSION YOU TAUGHT ME HOW TO CHOOSE AND THE KEY IS OBSESSION
FREDDIE SEE MY EYES, ARE THEY SAFE, ARE THEY EVEN SANE? ARE THEY WARM WHEN THEY SEEM TO GREET YOU? YOU DON'T KNOW, YOU CAN'T TELL, BUT IT SHOULD BE PLAIN THESE ARE EYES THAT ARE GONNA BEAT YOU DON'T EVER TELL ME I DON'T KNOW THE WAY TO PLAY IT DO I HAVE TO SAY IT? DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU TRY I HAVE HIM, YOU CAN SEE IT IN THE EYES
BOTH NO CONTEST, COMRADE BARELY ANY POINT IN PLAYING WHEN IT'S JUST DELAYING WHAT WE BOTH ALREADY KNOW YOU LOST IT A WOMAN AND A HALF AGO...
A DUET between Freddie and Anatoly?! This song?! HOLY YES BATMAN. I love No Contest, but oh man. it being between Freddie and Anatoly makes it 100 times better! Plus CHESS ARENA. Battle times! ----
Freddie jogs into the lobby, colliding with Florence who enters with a porter who pushes her luggage on a trolley.
FLORENCE Oh...I...I was just....
FREDDIE Moving back? Oh no...how stupid of me...you're moving out! Is it worth packing everything? You'll be back -- (He changes tone -- attempts a reconciliation.) (continuing; indicating himself) SILLY BOY (indicating Florence) WOMAN WHO I SHOULD NOT HAVE LET WALK OUT THERE'S NO HITCH THAT WE TWO CAN'T UNTANGLE OR TALK OUT. (He sits her on her luggage and wheels the trolley across the stage.)
AND IF WE DO, PARTNER THEN WE TWO, PARTNER HAVE THE WORLD AT OUR FEET WE'LL BRING BACK THE GOLDEN ERA STICK WITH ME, FLORENCE BELIEVE IN ME, FLORENCE I CAN WIN, YOU CAN WIN EVERY GAME I'M GETTING NEARER.
FLORENCE CAN'T YOU SEE WE'VE MOVED ON? CHESS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS! Freddie, grow up. Chess isn't life. Life isn't chess!
FREDDIE But I can win! I can win for you and you can help me. I love you, Florence.
FLORENCE I don't want the winner of a game. You've never understood what I wanted. (Florence leaves. Freddie, distraught, yells after her.)
FREDDIE And you never understood what I wanted! But you can't stop me getting it, Florence (he is starting to lose control) - you can't stop me winning! I've always been a winner!
Oh lord this scene. This is so something Billy would say. "I WIN! I'm a winner! Look at me winning!" ----
WALTER DO YOU THINK I ENJOY PLAYING WITH PEOPLE'S EMOTIONS? IN A WAY THAT INSURES I HAVE TO EXTINGUISH MY OWN WHILE YOU AND YOUR MORALS CAN SELFISHLY, SAFELY, SURVIVE.
AND NOW HERE JUST FOR ONCE I CAN DO SOMETHING REWARDING YOU HAVE TO FORGET ANYONE ELSE'S AMBITIONS
DDDDDDDD: WALTER OH SHIT. That is mega creepy and awesome. I love the voice that this Walter has too. He's a creeper.
----
WALTER AND MOLOKOV WE DO OUR BEST WORK WHEN WE HUNT IN PAIRS.
LET'S WORK TOGETHER AND THE WORLD IS SAFER THE BERLIN WALL BECOMES A BACKYARD FENCE AND OUR COOPERATION PAVES THE WAY FOR OUR PRIME TIME LEADERS AND THE MAIN EVENTS BEHIND THE SCENES WE SHOW SOME COMMON SENSE A LITTLE MUTUAL CONVENIENCE LET'S WORK TOGETHER
Holy hell. Also Soviet Murder Machine. Wow. He's like "Anatoly can just... not be there. Catch my DRIFT." Ahahah wow scary. Molokov you are NUTS. And Walter + Molokov in this version, just WOW. WOW. They are evil mofos. ----
ANATOLY NOW IT'S ALL CRYSTAL CLEAR SOMETHING BETTER BEGINNING WHO TO BEAT, WHERE TO MOVE WHAT I'LL LOSE IN THE WINNING --
Awesome lyrics HURGGGG!! ----
(Freddie enters and approaches Florence)
FREDDIE Florence? I came to say goodbye (no reply) Because I'm staying here! For a while, anyway. Anything but chess for me now. It looks like this place is good for everything but chess!
(They embrace, it's formal, cool, an awkward silence. Then, ever-buoyant, Freddie spots the Russian couple.)
FREDDIE Hey, Anatoly -
(He ascends to Anatoly and Svetlana on the balcony and talks to them.)
Um can you say ADORABLE and sad?! Poor Freddie ;_; He really seems to work harder to get Florence back in this version, even if he's really inept at it XD And then he even goes to wish Anatoly goodbye! DAWWWWWW ----
