i'd mentioned this in my nino vs ken'ichi post and figured it was high time to give ohno his own comparison post. apparently i'm going through arashi (and toma) before i get to other johnnys. (though i'm branching out to a johnny vs. a kpop idol next and i'm sort of excited) this post... creeped me out a bit? i used to adore tatsuya, mostly because battle royale is still one of my favorite movies, but his face has changed a lot as he's aged. still has that ohno-look, but it was a little depressing to look at photos from the "yuragi" photobook (super-twinky) one minute, and see him in the "chameleon" photobook (super... aged.) the next. oy. ohno, on the other hand, is the japanese dorian gray, so he's always pleasant to see grow down.
i think the reason that i find them so similar is how unique their face layout is, at least in terms of celebrities. they both have features that are sort of crowded into the middle of a round face. they both have so much space on their faces designated for their cheeks. they have totally different mouths, but hey, they can't all be winners.
the ohno picture is just a placeholder until
track_04 sends me some long-haired chibi ohno pics that I COULD NOT FIND ON THE INTERNET FOR THE LIFE OF ME WTF. but if you're seeing a tiny photo of a lot of little boys, ohno is second from the left.
i could understand how people couldn't see this as a viable comparison before they got a good look at the guys' teeth. they both have the same - whatever it's called? the "hina tooth", if you will - on the same side. it's in both photos, though you'll probably have to right-click view image it to see clearly. is ohno's fixed now, though? i thought he had dental work at some point, but i don't know how much of his mouth was fixed.
as i was saving all of the photos for this post, it started to feel like they would end up being interchangeable. both ohno and tatsuya tend to get mellow (or dare i say blank) facial expressions in photoshoots.
see what i mean? staring off into space, and on the job! shame on both of you. and an extra shame on ohno for his awful hair color. a bit of a side note, this photo is from tatsuya's photobook for "romeo and juliet" and it's full of beautiful stage photos. it's definitely worth checking out.
is it expected at this point?

i could've just put a million shukudai-kun caps here, but instead i chose this photo of ohno eating something that very well might not even be food. this was the only photo of tatsuya i could find eating :/ bad form, dude.

far be it for me to beat a dead horse, but the tatsuya photo forced me to pull out the feathery ohno photo again. the hair and faces don't really match at all, but i can't say no to a matching outfit.
even asleep, their faces are alike. the tatsuya screencap is pretty old and the ohno photo is pretty recent, so the appearance dynamics are a bit off, but if i didn't know, i could easily believe that the tatsuya cap is from an arashi video.
i wish the ohno picture was larger and clearer, but that was as big as the original scan allowed it to get. the full-size tatsuya photo is really pretty - it was a shame to crop in.
UGH I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH. this is probably the farthest-apart pair of photos in the post with the hair color and weight differences in the face, but still. siblings, at least?
if the game is "who has the most ties?", ohno's the clear winner. if the game is "who's wearing a belt around their neck?", tatsuya seems to have the upper hand.
it can't be a comparison post without it!

i know there's more half-nude ohno photos, at least onsen-related photos, but his build in this one is actually pretty similar to tatsuya's, sans the muscles straining in the chest. ulk.

pouty faces all around! and doesn't tatsuya look like a doll? you know, one of those creepy old dolls that your grandmother keeps up in the attic that you swear was calling out your name last night.
it had to happen at some point. eventually, i ran out of solo shots of ohno and had to dip into my general arashi photos. aiba ninjas himself into a comparison post again
the shock! the surprise! the horror! the... GODDAMMIT NINO.
they're all smiles when approached by cute, fuzzy things! yes, sho and his asymmetrical shirt count in the same category as a puppy. their little socks are touching. dawww. (does anyone get a total guy-vibe from sho and ohno in this? clearly they're male, but japanese idols in general tend to sit on the fence of gender definition so much that this struck me as extremely masculine for them.)
this pair probably sums the post up the best, really. the pose and hair do a lot for their same-ness, i think. i didn't realize that ohno's face was actually longer until i put these two photos together. huh.

WRONG LEADER, TATSUYA. i still can't wrap my brain around the idea that this is tatsuya. he looks so much like joshima. it's eerie.
