My best friend stayed with me this weekend and ended up coming into my work to get a mani/pedi and a haircut/color. She recently adopted a cat, so I gave her a cat-themed manicure for the occasion!
Base is OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous, details in acrylic paint.
OPI’s OZ The Great and Powerful collection came in today at work and I couldn’t resist posting a few swatch photos. I left the swatch labels in for identification purposes - the only unlabeled color is Black Onyx, which isn’t part of the collection, but I needed a dark color to show the glitters’ true potential.
My favorite by far is Lights of Emerald City, though I’m disappointed that we didn’t get any shimmery greens or golds in this collection.
I really like the idea of a reverse accent nail, where every nail is full of patterns except for one. I tried my hand at it today and it turned out looking like a Hawaiian shirt! And, of course, my camera never seems to be able to capture the beautiful scattered holo of DS Radiance, but it’s definitely there!
Colors are OPI DS Radiance, OPI Ogre the Top Blue, Star Gazer Chrome, and China Glaze Lemon Fizz.
At work, the sugaring tech and I have been trading services lately - she sugars my underarms and I paint her nails. Today, she asked for me to do her fingers and toes in colorful leopard print, so this is what we came up with together!
Base is OPI Tickle my France-ey, spots are OPI Dutch Ya Just Love OPI?, OPI Fly, and Venique Pump Up The Jam.
I’ve been actively doing nail art for years and I’ve just now mastered the needle drag technique! I don’t know what I was doing wrong before, but suddenly I got the hang of it while playing around with this manicure. I’m so excited!
Colors are OPI Funky Dunkey, Love & Beauty Lavender, OPI DS Temptation, and Color Club Pucci-licious.
I think I over-designed this one… oops! My previous manicure, the OPI Nail Apps that were supposed to last two weeks, didn’t even survive two days of working in the salon. I’m really disappointed in the OPI Gel Color design if this is how quickly the product breaks down.
Anyway, I don’t know what to call this one, really. Blue glitter explosion? The glitter is Funky Fingers Baby Baby Baby and the dark blue is CND Inkwell.
I went to an OPI Gel Polish and Nail Apps class yesterday! Since I was the first one there, the instructor used my hands as the Nail Apps demonstration set - lucky, right? I chose the Reptile set since snakeskin is one of the few nail art textures that I can’t seem to get right on both of my hands, and then she topped it off with a layer of Gel Polish topcoat sealer. Let’s see if it lasts the whole two weeks!
I’m on the “two weeks off” cycle of my gel polish, so I’ll have more of an excuse to do my nails every day! I’ve really been chomping at the bit to try my new Zoyas, and Tallulah was at the top of the list. I thought using OPI La Paz-itively Hot and Sally Hansen Whirlwind White for the accents gave it a nice, Summer-ey feel. I’m so happy the weather’s getting warmer again!
Two photos this time because I couldn’t decide on which one looked better. Natural sunlight makes the colors lovely and vibrant, but artificial light really displays the design better, I think.
It’s been unnaturally warm the past few days, so I gave Hand Model Mom a summery manicure. The tips are much more magenta in person, but no matter how many photos I took, it came out bright pink!
Colors are Sally Hansen Sun Kissed and OPI Koala Bear-y with Finger Paints Black Expressionism for the accent nail design.
A few mixed nail samples I’ve been working on lately. I’ve been trying to spend my time practicing with as many different products as possible, so I have some miscellaneous nail tips lying around.
