Chattanooga Zen

The Sitting Frog Zen Sangha meetings will be changing.

With Sensei Barry Graham moving back to Phoenix, we'll be meeting at my home in Cleveland, TN in my Zendo.  We are switching to weekday evening meeting times to accommodate those who cannot make a Saturday morning schedule.

If enough interest is shown, I will continue to have a Saturday meeting at Zanzibar every other weekend.

Currently, our planned sangha meetings through the end of June are:

Tuesday, April 17, 7pm
Monday, April 30, 7pm
Monday, May 7, 7pm
Thursday, May 17, 7pm
Thursday May 31, 7pm
Thursday June 14, 7pm

We will chant, sit two 20 or 30 minute periods of zazen, and have Dharma discussion. 

All who are interested in coming and wish to receive meditation instruction are welcome.  I will provide a light supper before the meeting and there will be tea available afterward.

I have to finish the book I'm writing by next week, which is going to keep me busy, so there will be no cult meeting this Saturday.

I'm still in Arizona, so there'll be no sangha meeting tomorrow.

There'll be no meeting this Saturday, since I'm flying out to Phoenix on Friday, and driving back next week. Kannon willing and the creek don't rise, I'll make it back by the end of the week, so we'll be able to resume our heathen, virgin-sacrificing activities next Saturday. Tomorrow's sangha meeting is canceled, since I'm a busy ol' boy. Check the schedule each week to know what's going on.

I've changed the name of the sangha, and we have a new website, which can be found here.

So, what used to be The Buddha Way Zen Sangha is now The Sitting Frog Zen Sangha. The reason for the change is that I think we need to reach out to the people in this community who are really hurting, and the word "Buddha" - to those who don't know who the Buddha is - probably has connotations of religious worship of a statue of a laughing fat guy.

For some reason, the word "Zen" doesn't seem to freak people out so much, which makes it easier to make the practice of the Dharma available to them. As you'll see from the content of the website, I haven't toned down the reality that we're a pretty hardcore Zen Buddhist group.

The site is still a work in progress, and we'll be adding more content as we go along.

No sangha meeting tomorrow - the job is demanding all my energy and attention right now.
