Got to spoil 7 out of 16 nieces/nephews. Destiny has lost her first baby teeth, Brandon is learning how to read, Jay is talking up a storm, Anthony just sat there looking cute, Shayla was kind of... Energetic, Ian is a grown up, and hence, boring, and Elena is still a complete girly-girl. :-)

Took several of the kids for ice cream at Friendly's, and some out to see a movie, The Tale of Despereaux. Played with duplo legos with the younger kids, painted the nails of the slightly older ones, played an inordinate amount of Munchkin with the one munchkin old enough to play, and generally had a good vacation. And tomorrow, back to the frozen wastes of Wisconsin...

Me asking a small toddler's Grandma: "Can Jay have a whole Reese's peanut butter cup, or is he too little"?

Small toddler piping up, without even knowing what we were talking about: "I too little".

I am _not_ thankful for the wretched crystalline substance that falls from the air and makes things cold and slushy. Nor am i thankful for having a cold. I am thankful for having adorable nieces and nephews, not living in Canada, not being wretchedly poor, and last but not least, for having met nanimo. Even though she gave me a cold. ;-)

When my adorable niece Destiny was about a year and a half, she had a habit of poking people and then announcing the name of whatever she was pointing at, especially when you had just picked her up. "Nose!" "Ears!" "Tattoo!". What always cracked me up was when a grown-up of the female persuasion would pick her up, and she would jab them in the "Boobs!" If she grows up to be a lesbian, I am totally telling that story to every girlfriend, or even potential girlfriend, that she ever has. Hell, I'll tell that story at her _wedding_. That's the kind of uncle I am. :-)

How else could one use a funny anecdote to sell a 3 dollar pack of cards, that's ALREADY BEEN OPENED, for $142.51? Aside from bidders, the auction page has so far gotten 179257 viewers. We are Living in an Age of Wonders.

Ice cream, of course. Took the two big monkeys to Friendly's, while the newborn monkey stayed home. The big ones behaved themselves, and one of them even managed to avoid making a mess:









Afterward, we went back to grandma's, and the big monkeys _insisted_ I get pictures of them with the baby monkey. What could I do?

I'm so evil, I'm actually considering signing up for an anti-war protest in D.C. just to get the free ticket, and then ditch the whole thing to go spoil my nieces and nephews. I probably won't actually _do_ it, but it would be funny. :-)

About a month before I went for my second Iraqi Vacation, I was visiting parents, and my niece Destiny drew me a picture of her brand new baby brother. Of course, being a two-year-old, her drawing wasn't very representational, but I pretended to be impressed as she told me "Did is his nose, and dese are his fingers, and dis is his bewwy button." I had to laugh when she got to "And dis is his peepee!", though. Ah, the innocence of youth. :-D

A few hours later: "You're leaving tomorrow? Don't go! When will you be back?" Six year-olds have a funny definition of "forever", don't they? :-P

Took 6 of the rugrats to the zoo today. 4 of them were well behaved...
