Exploring the Arts
The Center for Rural Development fosters a culture of creativity through our region. Our Arts & Culture focus offers a hub of activity, hosting performing arts series, visual arts programs, and special concerts and events that enrich, entertain, and inspire the imagination of people of all ages.
School Time Theatre
School Time Theatre, presented by The Center for Rural Development and Lake Cumberland Performing Arts, provides innovative and creative theatrical performances for all ages of students. Our School Time Theatre performances are selected with two goals in mind: education and quality.
Many are based on familiar children’s literature or historical characters, emphasize positive values, or introduce students to unfamiliar art forms.“Thematic Connections” information is provided for each performance, and free study guides are available.

Visual Arts
The Center for Rural Development is proud to show case the creative talents of local and area artists in our visual arts gallery.
Throughout the years, we have hosted the work of both amateur and professional artists and are constantly looking for ways to engage young students in the visual arts.

Lake Cumberland Performing Arts
In partnership with Lake Cumberland Performing Arts, The Center provides entertainment and educational programming through our Center Stage and School Time Theatre series in our 760-seat performing arts venue.
