I've been around LJ since my college days and am still going strong. Took a bit of time away when I had my daughter because the minutes in the day seemed to fly by without a chance to do much else but care for her (which I didn't really mind)! Trying to get back into the swing of posting more with some friends who've been around from the start and with some new friends since a lot of original friends have moved on from LJ. You don't have to be like me to be my friend, you just have to be accepting and appreciate our differences and I will do the same for you.
