(Thanks to those who know why I'm thanking them. You'll understand why I'm not doing that individually. <3 )
Today has been quite productive! I did all 4 sets of physio-mandated stretches through the day, and wrestled my essay into near submission over the morning/early afternoon, with only 172 words left to lose until I'm at the upper limit of acceptable. I am so relieved to be this far along. On Friday evening I was so stressed out with it and how it was not going well I was seriously considering for more extension (we already were given a blanket extension due to the Current State of Affairs), but although there's still a whole lot to do (appendices etc) I think I've got enough time. Phew. (I do not cope well with not coping well.) It's now in the hands of my colleague, R, who went through all of this a couple of years ago, so I decided to take the afternoon off. Go team, me!
We went out for a refreshing walk and encountered a bee in the road doing not very much. It was a not well bee. We didn't want to leave it there so TB coaxed it onto his hand. First we tried to help it onto a rose. Bee did not want to go. So we tried another flower down the street, closer to the ground, a tulip. Bee did not want to go. A little further we tried again with a tree in full blossom. Bee happily moved onto the tree. There are two things to learn here: a) bees know what they want, and b) bees use humans like Ubers. I hope you're okay, little bee!
And then after we got home I pulled out my crafting stuff for the first time in a while and made a couple of birthday cards. One is a flattened perspective fabric collage imagining of a view near my brother's house and the other one is The Munchkin's age shaped in buttons. Guys, she's going to be 16! My lovely girl will be able to join a union! And pay for her own prescriptions! What an exciting time to be alive. :D I had such a lovely time making the cards too, despite the insane amount of mess I managed to create. I love making things that make other people happy. Dad needs a card too, but two's as many as my back and my currently-lowered internal-mess-limit can handle right now.
I have not done the usual Sunday clean, but given I've only had an afternoon off all weekend I'm okay pushing that to tomorrow. At some point I'll post the original story I wrote when procrastinating on writing the essay a week and change ago (oh, yes, the essay fear was real: kickstarting me into writing something fictional for the first time in well over a year? Powerful terror indeed) just for somewhere to put it really. If any of you guys want to read it, that'll be a lovely bonus. But I have to sign in to different things so it all seems a bit efforty right now. How will you ever cope? :-/
Hope you and yours are all staying safe out there. I know there are some of you who need extra thoughts right now and I'm beaming them at you as hard as I can. I love you, computer people. <3

Date: 2020-04-28 06:05 pm (UTC)Sadly I did not create her! Apart from in the respect that I've been in her life since she was 6 months old seeing her several times a week, and her mum often says she can hear me when The Munchkin says certain things (usually about feminism! :D ). She's one of the young people I work with. (She told me I was like her godmother today, which was the sweetest thing. She's the best.)

Date: 2020-04-28 06:07 pm (UTC)Today we were talking mostly about abortion, as you do (we're covering ethical dilemmas) and she was so thoughtful and grown up about it. I'm so proud of her.
Good luck with the crafting! I need to get a move on with my Dad's card too.
