This just in: I NEED TO STOP JOKING ABOUT AUTHORS GETTING A LITTLE OLD.

First time: 3rdragon and I were trying to find a good person to invite for the SSFFS Library 20th Anniversary celebration. We wanted a Smith alum, and we joked about how we'd invite Madeleine L'engle, but she was getting a bit old and frail and maybe we shouldn't be flying her in from somewhere far away. This was, ironically, a week before she died.

This time... ryelle33 and I were at Barnes & Noble the other day, and I was complaining that I wanted more Pern books written by Anne McCaffrey because her son's books just aren't as good, but that wasn't going to happen because she was getting too old to write...

Well... RIP, Anne McCaffrey.

Maybe I need to stop joking around about these things.

For those of you following lj but not facebook, I'm running a tabletop one-shot this Sunday in the SSFFS library 3rd room. I'm at 8 players and have fifteen characters made up, so let me know if you want in! It'll be starting at 1:30ish.

"Mum," Draco had said one afternoon in a private chamber in Hogsmeade, bracing himself against the sides of his armchair, "I fancy wizards. Ma-male wizards."

His mother had stared at him.

"Purebloods only, of course!" he had been quick to point out.

Draco can still remember the immense relief that had flooded across his mother's face.

"I remember when your father told me the same thing," she had said then, grabbing Draco from around the neck and pulling him close. "I see so much of you in him, Draco."

"What."

"Draco, every Pureblood wizard is a little bit gay. It's nothing to be ashamed of. You should be proud, to be so attracted to your own kind. It's a sign of good breeding, my darling," his mother had said, her smile positively beaming off of her face.
