Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one is watching. (Anonymous)
Am I living to write? I have told stories to myself since kindergarten, I keep a diary since I was fourteen. I have written poems for years and some very short stories. In 2003, I wrote my first story that was longer than half a page. I sometimes wrote to live, that is for sure. I love searching for the right expression, setting a different pace, creating a scene between the characters.
I entered the Harry Potter fandom in 2005, first reading for several months, then writing several ficlets of my own. It was there that I realised that I didn't want to go on writing and putting my texts away in the drawer when I was finished. So, there I was. It seemed to be quite exciting out there. And if I did't try, I would never know.
Since then, I have writen quite a lot, fanfic as well as original stuff. I love writing, I love to talk about writing. I love to write in two different languages and I enjoy beta-reading a lot. I love to have people to share, to get feedback from and to talk to. I still struggle to find the time to write, and I still want more. One day, I might even write a novel.
So, here I am. It is still quite exciting out there. Fandom is a great place to be - full of generous people. If there's wank, I walk away. At the end of the day, this journal is my playground, not my battlefield. &hearts
Warning: This journal might contain adult material from time to time. Consider yourself warned and please leave this place if you aren't allowed the access to adult material by the laws of your country. Thank you!
Disclaimer: The fanfiction in this journal is based on characters and situations created and owned by JK Rowling, various publishers including but not limited to Bloomsbury Books, Scholastic Books and Raincoast Books, and Warner Bros., Inc. If other sources are used, this is indicated, too. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended.
cats_fic is the comm where I host all my fanfiction. If you want to keep up with my stories and not be bothered with my personal stuff, this is the place to go!
If you enjoyed a story and want to keep a copy in your personal files, I would appreciate if you would comment and tell me. I will be thrilled if you consider some of my stuff good enough to rec it, but please don't archive my stories on any other sites.
Thank you!
I'm a cat person. It shows. That doesn't mean that I don't get along with dog persons. You'll see.
If I friended you, it's because I like your stories, your art or simply your stile. In most cases, I will have left a comment to one of your posts. Although I will be happy if you friend me back, don't feel compelled to do so.
If you friend me, you'll get some heavy RL rambling (f-locked, because it's related to my work and private life), Harry Potter fanfiction (in English and German), original fiction (in German) and posts about creative writing. I'm interested in other people and I will friend you back to get to know you better, but please take the time to introduce yourself - especially if you are keeping a completely f-locked journal. I'm reluctant to friend those blindly, so I would appreciate if you just said hi to let me know who you are. :-)
The fic, on the other hand, is open for anyone to read without the need to talk at cats_fic - though I really, really love feedback and discussion about fic. My journal has developed to an almost completely f-locked journal over the years. If you friend me without saying hi, I will assume that you are here for the fic only - which is completely fine - and I won't friend you back. In that case, it might be more convenient for you to watch cats_fic, my fic journal community.
If you have followed this journal and decide that you want to unfriend me, no offense is taken. I take the same right for me, if I find that we haven't talked in ages and I have no idea who you are. It's all about sharing mutual interests.
I won't friend you back if I can't remember ever speaking to you online or if I assume that you are only interested in the stories. And friending back won't make much sense if your journal is written in a language other than English or German, because I won't be able to read it. It's sad, I know. But I can't help it. If you feel I made a mistake, please don't hesitate to tell me. I'm only human and don't claim to be perfect. But I do like getting along.
Like I said, I'm a cat person. I can be equally cuddly and distant. And I like to play with my food.
I found this poem on greatpoets. It's important to me, so that's why I'm posting it here, in my user info.
The Child Who Walks Backwards (by Lorna Crozier)
My next-door neighbour tells me her child runs into things. Cupboard corners and doorknobs have pounded their shapes into his face. She says he is bothered by dreams, rises in sleep from his bed to steal through the halls and plummet like a wounded bird down the flight of stairs.
This child who climbed my maple with the sureness of a cat, trips in his room, cracks his skull on the bedpost, smacks his cheeks on the floor. When I ask about the burns on the back of his knee, his mother tells me
he walks backwards into fireplace grates or sits and stares at flames while sparks burn stars in his skin.
Other children write their names on the casts that hold his small bones. His mother tells me he runs into things, walks backwards, breaks his leg while she lies sleeping.
