We got training at work today on how to deal with potential ICE raids during summer camp. We’re supposed to shelter the children in place, in management’s words, “just like an active shooter drill”. That this is how we explain it to children- that learning how to hide from armed intruders is their normal, and they’ve never known a world without the threat of random gun violence- at camp where all they are supposed to be doing is learning and making friends- it makes me sick.
