new The Backmaker update! and thus, act 2 is DONE!!
the comic is now on its regularly scheduled post-act hiatus while I regroup and take care of some things. hopefully not for more than a few months but I make no promises, Iβm a busy gal these days. thank you so much for reading and stick around for act 3!!!! <3
I think there's too much of love, intimacy, and romance in media now, actually. Not only does it often destroy what was already good, but also we're missing so much potential of stories that are based on the lack of it. Either for good or for bad, and with it not ending in some sort of other person involved (or at least not romantically, as well).
And if one really wants romance, that's what's shipping is for.
"It's such a huge part of human life" which humans? Because this is only talking about allo people. And aspec individuals are also human. This is amatonormativity at its finest. Many aspec people feel no such (or even disgust at those) feelings.
And, "underwhelming"? Are friendships, pets, acquaintances, dream fulfillment, curiousity for life, and personal drive not whelming enough?
what's that one thing where they asked how ripely from alien was so realistic and believable as a female character in scifi for once and they were like "well we just took the dude from the original script and made him a girl and changed nothing else. it works bc men and women are the same?" and people were like "woah no way" and then didn't learn anything from that for 20 years
"how do you write such believable men as a woman?" "how do you write such believable women a man?" and the answer people who are good at it always give is "i just write people. were literally the exactly the same. do you think the opposite sex is some sorta totally different animal???" and people respond "woah that's wild. yea i do. and im not gonna stop thinking that goodbye :)"
alright I'm almost finished Project Hail Mary, and I have to say, I don't get why people are shipping the guy with Markiplier when he's already in a perfectly healthy queer-platonic relationship with the alien spider made of rocks
[Image ID: Tumblr reply from theGrandMarsh reading: i hear tell that people are often more attracted to other humans than they are to alien rocks, and that imagining two attractive humans in a relationship fulfills them emotionally or sexually /End ID]
Anyway, fuck Adobe, and enjoy!

![A man once asked me β it is true that it was at the end of a very good dinner, and the compliment conveyed may have been due to that circumstance β how I managed in my books to write such natural conversation between men when they were by themselves. Was I, by any chance, a member of a large, mixed family with a lot of male friends? I replied that, on the contrary, I was an only child and had practically never seen or spoken to any men of my own age till I was about twenty-five. βWell,β said the man, βI shouldnβt have expected a woman [meaning me] to have been able to make it so convincing.β I replied that I had coped with this difficult problem by making my men talk, as far as possible, like ordinary human beings. This aspect of the matter seemed to surprise the other speaker; he said no more, but took it away to chew it over. One of these days it may quite likely occur to him that women, as well as men, when left to themselves, talk very much like human beings also.](https://64.media.tumblr.com/726839b6845681977cf7f5c795f1c85c/01f2e4ff7c2c5eda-4c/s75x75_c1/a4e906649db9d5e8475b97a3de78c50b35ee5a18.png)
