Boynton Collection of Early Claremont
The Boynton Collection offers a view of early Claremont through the eyes of an amateur photographer. This collection of glass plate negatives captures aspects of life in Claremont and at Pomona College around the turn of the twentieth century. As well as documenting local buildings and landscape, they present a candid glimpse of Pomona College student life, including athletic events, theatrical productions, college outings, and residence halls. The collection, which is housed in Special Collections, is believed to have come to Pomona College included with the papers of Charles Luther Boynton, a Pomona College alumnus and missionary to China. Mission Santa Clara Sacramental Records
As all Roman Catholic clergy are obliged to do, the priests who staffed Mission Santa Clara kept meticulous records about the sacraments at which they officiated. Over the past few decades, mission sacramental records have proven to be of inestimable value in helping scholars reconstruct the rhythms of life in pre-1850 California. These different kinds of records offer clues about daily life at Mission Santa Clara. Careful examination of these records has enabled anthropologists to recover the size and location of a number of indigenous villages, and thus has immeasurably increased our knowledge of native California before the arrival of …

Leo Szilard Letters to Gertrud Weiss
The Leo Szilard Letters to Gertrud Weiss collection contains letters written between 1937 and 1959 from Szilard to Weiss. The letters document the development of their relationship during this period and cover a variety of topics, from the everyday to more personal topics, including Szilard's battle with cancer. There are also a small number of letters from other correspondents. Letters are primarily in German, with some in English. The entire collection has been digitized.

Beginning in the mid-nineteenth century, the collection primarily emphasizes the years from 1901-1924, preceding and immediately following the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Byron McAfee Papers, 1553-1964
Byron McAfee's research papers and original manuscripts from Mexico's colonial period. The research papers contain drafts of translations and essays by McAfee and his major collaborator, John Hubert Cornyn, on a variety of subjects including colonial codices, Spanish-Nahuatl dictionaries and vocabularies, and Nahua history and culture. The papers also include printed instructional and linguistic materials on Nahuatl, such as an 1887 Nahuatl grammar from Mexico; full transcriptions of important 16th century works by friars Bernardino de Sahagún, Alonso de Molina and Andres de Olmos; translations and linguistic studies of Nahuatl dramas; and material extracted from Mexican political and social movements …
