we’ve been very dilligently practicing Outside this week which culminated in an absolute triomph of 20 minutes of uninterupted outside time and even stepping onto the grass today!
Your Voice but not Your Words — In ref to the did it squeal moment
I kept redrawing this one because I thought I had a clear vision of this drawing in my head, I did not, so to stop myself from hurting myself more with perfectionism I’m just gonna let it be as it is
(not tagging Norah even though it’s her moment ‘cause we only see her hand)
i wonder if it’s time for a cultural reappraisal of rob liefeld’s art. maybe we were all just too quick to judge a guy for daring to have a unique stylized take that focused on exaggeration and action. *actually looks at some of his art again* jesus CHRIST never mind
#this is me once every like six months. he really was that bad.
But let’s play out the thought experiment! What CAN we learn from Rob Liefeld’s art?
You can do whatever you want forever
At the end of the day, art is about vibes
If you lean into Your Own Particular Brand of Bullshit with enough dedication, you CAN wring a career out of it
Don’t ever fucking apologize for your art. Look at me. Look in my eyeballs. Don’t fucking apologize for your art ever. There are people like Rob Liefeld who are not apologizing for putting swords on titties. Why would YOU have to apologize for anything?
Highlights and shadows are THE secret key to making your art look even a little bit interesting and dimensional and juicy to the eyeball. This works even if your shapes are dogshit.
Highlights and shadows don’t have to go in logical places :)))) You can literally just throw them wherever. Follow ur heart.
You don’t, apparently, have to bother learning anything about anatomy if you don’t feel like it
Impostor syndrome is just trying to make you apologize for your art. Never apologize for your art. Stab impostor syndrome with your titty swords.
It’s normal and fine to be horny when you draw.
Forget about “Perfect is the enemy of good.” Perfect is the enemy of DONE.
Literally do whatever you want forever.
Valuable and important lessons, we must admit! Thanks, Rob Liefeld!
Just so we’re clear, if I point out that you did something racist, that’s not the same as me thinking you’re irremediably terrible. You did a racist thing.
You think you don’t do racist things, homophobic things, etc? You do. I caught myself in fat phobic and homophobic lines of thinking/speech just this morning. I’m fucking gay married. Nothing disqualifies you from acting in a way that reflects the society you exist in. We are obliged to fight it. Why not fight it in honesty and with camaraderie?
(gripping the skink with both hands, pale and feverish, sweating and shaking as I look at myself in the mirror) “killing a character is a valid writing choice that can be a crucial plot mechanic and lend beauty and depth to the story as a whole” (wretches up blood into the sink) “even when it’s my favorite character”
I would actually go as far as to say that MOST abuse is unintentional. I think most people will go through their lives without ever experiencing intentional abuse. People are abusive because they’re selfish, because they’re stressed, because they care more about what society thinks they should do than the impacts of their actions on their children and partners, because they think what they’re doing is correct, because they’ve made it make sense in their own heads, because they think they can fix their victims, they think they can fix their relationships, they think they can stop you from leaving, they think they can make you a better partner to them, they think that means you need to do what they want. We’ve sort of constructed mental illness in a way that doing this shit to other people counts as a form of mental illness because it is anti social behavior in the literal sense— it is behavior that causes social harm.
I don’t say any of this to excuse it. I think everyone needs to be more aware of this because if you think abuse has to be intentional you will never realize you are capable of abusive behavior. You will never realize you are being shitty to the people you love, because YOU know what you mean, YOU know you don’t mean any harm. But you’re doing harm. You need to pay attention to the impact you have on other people, and you need to do it all the time, Especially when you feel least capable of doing so. Sorry! You live in a society. Get your head out of your ass.
So there was a little impromptu midoffs watch party for day 1 yesterday that a few of the coaches (Infume, Fulham and Couriway) joined after their games ended and it’s so fascinating to watch them all react to other students play. They’re all are very understanding that these are new players so any shade is directed at the player’s coaches like “Why would their coach tell them to do that? Why aren’t they saying anything? 😒” and you can tell that they really want these new players to succeed. Anytime a player dies or gets into trouble they’re all distressed and desperately screaming advice at the screen even if it can’t be heard. It’s just cool to see the midoffs from the perspective of some top speedrunners and it’s clear they have a lot of passion for it and want people to have the best possible entrance into speedrunning so they hopefully keep playing. It was very sweet how mad Fulham got on behalf of his student Beky because she just got unlucky and he didn’t want the losses to discourage her from speedrunning more in the future. Couri even floated the idea of a redemption midoffs where people who got out the first day get to try again because it really sucks that a lot of people trained so hard just to get out early.
It’s just cool to see people passionate about sharing their craft with newbies. This seems to be a common mindset amongst most of the coaches. They love midoffs because they love getting to share speedrunning with more people
Let me be clear it is not just the mentally ill the uk is attacking they are attacking all disabled people look at that stupid fucking “why are so many young women using walking sticks” article
I really like this response to that horrible article.
Which is ridiculous - it’s really fucking hard to get Motability and no one is getting it because they’re a tiny bit anxious/restless/whatever they’re implying.
Because god forbid disabled people from travelling.
And if you have low capacity for work and work related activity but this happened after 6 April 2026 and you are not nearing the end of your life/ don’t have a “severe, lifelong” disability you now also get less money
The U.K has been doing this since before covid, even. I think it was twenty eighteen (or maybe nineteen) when the BBC released an article claiming fucking asthma rescue inhalers were just as greenhouse gas emitting as the beef industry. I literally had some bitchface tell me on here that my “right to breathe” is not worth the cost of the Earth because of that article.
one thing abt me is that I can’t recognize veneers and I can’t tell when someone’s hair is a wig and I can’t clock fake accents even when they’re done pretty badly and I’m also bad with faces. all that to say I would be insanely vulnerable to hijinks/capers
