@buggy-patron

i like and follow from here but this blog is dead

hey @staff why the hell did you ban a trans woman for saying that trans women belong in women's shelters?

@medusadyke was reported by terfs for saying that trans women need and deserve to be in women's spaces for their safety and wellbeing, and subsequently banned by staff.

trans women belong in women's shelters, bathrooms, dressing rooms, and i don't care if it makes some cis women uncomfortable. their safety takes greater precedence over your discomfort. terfs eat shit. it's 2025 and we still have to fight over basic shit like this.

Gofundme

Our financial situation is really desperate at the moment, and my mom set up a gofundme to help. Mom has been out of work since October and has run out of savings. I have severe gastrointestinal issues that result in me having a very restricted diet and preventing me from being able to work. My health has only been getting worse, and the disability system is a nightmare.

With any luck, Mom will get a new job soon and everything will be alright, but we're struggling in the meantime. If anyone can help, we would appreciate it a lot.

I'm not able to work right now due to my health, so I decided to open up a ko-fi. If you enjoy my writing or want to help out, feel free to head over there. No pressure, though! I'm considering putting original writing projects on there rather than fanfiction.

Hello! We really need help paying for groceries. If anyone has anything to spare, it would mean a lot. Thank you for your time!

Because I remember disinformation being spread around the last few elections and I’m sure assholes will bring it back:

  • YOU CAN’T VOTE ONLINE.
  • YOU CAN’T VOTE FROM YOUR PHONE.
  • IN MANY STATES THERE ARE LEGAL CONSEQUENCES FOR PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR BALLOT.
  • DO NOT WEAR CAMPAIGN GEAR TO THE POLLS.
  • DO NOT TRY TO PERSUADE PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR A CANDIDATE AT THE POLLS.
  • DO NOT ENGAGE IN ANY KIND OF POLITICAL DISCOURSE AT THE POLLS.
  • NO ELECTION IS EVER A SURE THING, EVEN IF YOU’RE IN THE BLUEST OR REDDEST OF STATES.  IF SOMEONE TRIES TO TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN SIT THIS ONE OUT, THEY ARE EITHER IGNORANT OR MALICIOUS.
  • VOTE.
  • YOU CAN GET YOUR PHONE OUT IN THE POLLS
  • YOU CAN'T TAKE PICTURES
  • BUT YOU CAN LOOK UP WHATEVER YOU WANT
  • LOOK PEOPLE AND POSITIONS UP IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHO THEY ARE, WHAT THEY STAND FOR, OR WHAT THE POSITION IS
  • VOTE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BALLOT
  • LOCAL ELECTIONS ARE IMPORTANT TOO

i think we should always take predominant sexes and races for psychiatric disabilities into question.

are men really more likely to be antisocial or narcissistic, or are women just overlooked because ASPD/NPD are seen as too "aggressive" for them?

are women really more likely to be borderline or histrionic, or are they just seen as so "hysterical" that they have to be feminine?

are black people more likely to have schizophrenia or ODD, or are labels of "psychosis" and "defiance" simply used to further dismiss, oppress, and imprison BIPOC?

are white people more likely to have autism and ADHD, or are doctors just more willing to accept that white children are disabled and not just "bad?"

oppressive biases are everywhere in psychiatry. never take psychiatric demographics at face value.

teaching yourself how to deal with mildly annoying inconveniences is imo an essential part of treating the disabled people around you with compassion and no i'm not kidding

sometimes you have to share a public space with someone who has loud verbal tics. sometimes a chronically ill friend will have to cancel plans because of a flare up even if you were really looking forward to hanging out with them. sometimes an autistic person will talk over you or interrupt you because they missed a particular cue. sometimes people who struggle to take care of themselves will smell bad. sometimes people with intellectual disabilities will need you to give them more detailed, patient instructions, even if it seems simple to you. sometimes you will need to give up your seat on the bus for a physically disabled person even if you don't want to move.

accommodating disabled people is not always easy or comfortable; being an ally means doing it anyway.

Here is the goggle doc on what to do! Even if you don’t need to live in New York, you can message the tourism board.

Do you live in New York state? Do you like being able to protect yourself from covid in a public space LEGALLY? Please do this.

If you do NOT live in New York state, please reblog this.

You shouldn’t have to be trans to get any sex characteristic-related surgery. It’s not a limited resource. Plenty of cis men get implants and cis women get breast reductions. From Colby Gordon today and Leslie Feinberg in Transgender Warriors (1996).

united states FDA announces recall of Gay Awakening

...as well as hundreds of other canned coffees from over 100 different roasters, sold nationwide in stores and online.

snapchill LLC is recalling ALL of their canned coffees because of unsafe manufacturing processes resulting in potential contamination that can cause botulism.

botulism is one of those major bummer types of food poisoning where you can have a really miserable few days, and then die. especially without emergency medical care. most people exposed will not get sick, but among those that do, shit gets bad. if you think you might have botulism, you have to go to the emergency room as soon as possible.

some of the early symptoms are weakness, tiredness, drooping eyelids, dry mouth, and difficulty speaking. that weakness and paralysis eventually moves onto the organs and muscles that keep the body alive. symptoms of botulism usually show up within a day or two after exposure, but can take up to 10 days to kick in.

this type of contamination and poisoning often happens as a result of unsafe canning practices, and basically rule #1 when starting a canning business is "do not give people botulism." botulism can be a lot of why eating canned food from damaged cans can be really dangerous.

worth noting that the FDA says no cases of botulism have been tied to this recall yet.

No illnesses have been reported to-date, and Snapchill is not aware of any instances in which the company’s products contained botulin toxin. Snapchill is working on filing the appropriate notification with FDA.

so the manufacturer realized they were canning coffee in a way that might kill people. you still want to take this seriously.

Consumers should either destroy the products or return the product to Snapchill or the place of purchase for a refund. Snapchill will offer full refunds for any of these products, with appropriate proof of purchase including a picture of the product(s) before being destroyed. Full information about the return and refund will be available at Compliance@Snapchill.com.

below the cut is the entire list of recalled products, including gay awakening drag bean coffee. and holy shit is it LONG. if you drink canned coffee in the united states or know someone who does, check this list or the list offered by the FDA link above.

lot of interesting names here. at the very least this recall is happening before anyone apparently got sick. try not to be the first. and if you think you or someone you know may have gotten botulism from any of these coffees, make sure you report it to the FDA.

if you live in the united states and have canned coffee, you might also have botulism waiting to strike. check the list and stay safe.

it is really important to know that this was not the fault of the coffee companies. the canning company, snapchill, fucked things up for absolutely everyone here.

This actively happened in my lifetime, and I’m in my 30s. A lot of us experienced it in real time and no one stopped it. No one helped us.

When I was 16 we would hang out outside and inside the library. We ranged from a group of 20 to a group of 3-4 people on any given day, because us 16 year olds also hung out with whatever other kid was around the area. (Mostly younger siblings and then their friends.) We never did anything wrong, never mind illegal. We were never loud in the library and were always polite to the staff. We sometimes got a little loud outside on the street when there was some contest thing going on, but not very often. We mostly hung out and talked about stuff going on in our lives.

Then one day someone called the cops on us.

And the cops showed up all ready angry, then started yelling at us for doing nothing. They couldn’t even come up with a real reason to be there yelling at us, other than to demand to know if we were a ‘gang’. When one of my friends started crying, I turned to tell her that it would be ok. The cop grabbed me, screamed at me to not look away when he was talking to me, then demand I get in the cop car and go down to the station. It took almost an hour for my mother to find out where I was because I didn’t have a cellphone at the time and the cops had just fucking kidnapped me. For comforting a friend while they screamed at us. And you know what happened?

We never hung out like that again. None of us. We all got banned from the library for a year. Again, all of this for literally no reason. They told us we were ‘misbehaving’ for simply hanging around outside being kids. And then we had no where to go. Some of those kids were forced back into their abusive homes. I literally never saw half of them again. Ever. And I lived in that town for several years after that.

So, yeah. They just started kicking us out from the outside years ago and not a single adult or group of adults gave a shit.

IF YOU ARE A TRANS FEMME GET YOUR THYROID CHECKED, ESPECIALLY IF YOUVE NOTICED A DROP IN LIBIDO OR AN INABILITY TO MAINTAIN A STABLE WEIGHT

It isn’t a big deal if you have hypothyroidism, you just need to take an artificial thyroid hormone called Levothyroxine…but don’t let it go untreated!!! It’s super fucked up doctors don’t regularly check our thyroid when we start HRT

Specifically get your thyroid-binding globulin levels, since according to these articles your thyroid hormone levels might appear normal despite this occurring

Good to pass on! I'm a cis female who's 4th generation hypothyroid, so I know this is not a thing to ignore.

Note: the dosages for thyroid meds, while absolutely essential, are tiny. Unfortunately, this means the generic version of the med is sometimes not exact enough for some people. I'm one of them, as is my mother. I'm all for generic meds, but I can't use this one. If you get prescribed thyroid meds but aren't seeing improvement, talk to your doctor about this. It may also help to actually get an endocrinologist rather than a gp for this, if you can.

Hi. You always post a lot of info so I'm wondering if you might be able to help me. Is there a difference between radfems and TERFs? Are they both bad? If so, why are they bad? Are there any dog whistles to look out for when it comes to these groups? Please ignore this if it makes you uncomfortable. I've seen a lot of people pointing out that they're bad, but never really saying why. I want to make sure I follow intersectional feminism and not those groups.

Radical feminism is the name of a branch of feminism. It originally got its name because it advocated for extreme changes to society to address female oppression, but developed into a specific worldview which I (off the top of my head) would define by certain traits:

  • Oppositional sexism. Men and women (or "males" and "females") are fundamentally opposed. Oftentimes this is bioessentialist, arguing that this opposite comes from biology, but it may also be framed as a political necessity; a radfem might argue that gender and sex are fake BUT we need male vs female as political identities in order to identify our "allies" and "enemies". Regardless, males and females are physically distinct and political enemies. You can tell a man from a woman, either from their body or their behavior, the two categories cannot overlap, and no other gender/sex-labels are relevant.
  • Fatalistic perspectives on patriarchy. Not only are males and females opposed, but this cannot be changed. This may be bioessentialist (the opposition comes from something in our nature, which cannot change) or gender-essentialist (the opposition comes from socialization which occurs as a child due to outside pressure and/or internal gender identity, and cannot change.) Focus is not placed on an ideal future where men and women are equals and social partners. Instead, there is a sense that there is no way to truly have a society with men and women where males do not oppress females, or try to. Sometimes this is more implicit and other times you have people who explicitly believe in creating & enforcing female-only societies.
  • Misogyny as the source of all oppression, or at least the most important & the one people should identity themselves as before anything else. Those who call themselves intersectional generally only really care about other issues to the extent that they affect women in some way. Part of the downfall of the original radical feminists was the fact that the dominant groups were upper-class white women, who ignored racism and classism and silenced poor women & women of color, insisting that anti-racist and anti-classist action distracted from The Movement & that calling out other women's bigotry was anti-feminist.
  • A general suspicion of sexual desire and sex, often expressing itself as whorephobia (anti-sex work) and anti-kink attitudes, specifically under the argument that they are inherently misogynistic and abusive. Sex is associated with men and maleness, which again, are inherently the enemy. Sex WITH men, or with a person or object that could be construed as male, is especially bad.
  • The impetus to make your personal life As Feminist As Possible– "The personal is political." That isn't a bad slogan on its own (it's true), but with radical feminists it expresses itself as a high standard of Radfemmaxing. You should be celibate if you are attracted to men, or become a political lesbian, you shouldn't be masculine OR feminine (anti-butch & femme sentiment), you should reject makeup and shaving, you should cut off male relatives and even abort male fetuses– and you must identify with womanhood and femaleness, while rejecting any identity related to manhood and maleness. It's not just that you should examine your desires and choices and question why you feel the way you feel (again, this is a good thing). Radfems have the belief that they already know the correct answer to that Introspection, and if you come to any other conclusion than theirs (I like wearing makeup because it's fun, I want to be a man because it fits me), then it's taken as proof you are still brainwashed.

TERFS are trans-exclusive radfems. They believe that being trans is not real, or at least not healthy or an acceptable feminist stance. TERFs tend to use the language of "sex" and "males vs females." Many use the term "gender critical," meaning they see gender as fake and damaging, while sex is real and the proper platform for feminist analysis. I once saw a TERF define her stance as "it's not degrading because its feminine, its feminine because its degrading." They believe in things like autogynophilia and rapid onset gender dysphoria, and attribute transgender identity with sexual trauma, internalized homophobia and internalized misogyny.

TIRFs are trans inclusive. They believe that transgender feelings are natural and should be listened to and followed, and that feminism should take gender identity into account. However, they still have a "male vs female" worldview. They may argue that transgender men's internal gender feelings led them to internalize male socialization, while trans women internalized female socialization, meaning that all trans people's experiences with gender and misogyny align most with cis people who share their gender identity.

In both cases, anti-nonbinary exorsexism and intersexism are unavoidable. TERFs will label intersex people as "males/females with a disorder" and attribute nonbinary identity either to internalized misogyny (FTX) or to avoid being held accountable for male privilege (MTX). TIRFs similarly fail to acknowledge how someone's socialization can be affected by intersexism. MTX people are either trans women in denial or flamboyant cis men; FTX people are either trans men avoiding their privilege, or cis women avoiding their privilege*.

Not everyone who uses radical feminist arguments or shares the general perspective openly identified as radfem. There are many "cryptos" who purposefully obscure their political identity to spread radfem ideas in queer & feminist spaces. Other people adopt the general ideas of radical feminism without consciously identifying as one, because of cryptos and how pop feminism often adopts their flashier ideas. So it's important to understand these qualities as on a scale, with some versions being more subtle while others are explicit.

Radical feminism always reduces trans experiences (& experiences in general) to a simple, uncrossable binary, based either in gender or sex. Nuance and cros- or non-binary gender experiences are seen as anti-feminist and aligned with the patriarchy, if not part of a targeted plan to hurt feminist movements.

*the idea of "AFAB privilege" is. a thing in some people's analysis of transmisogyny.

hey guys if you actually care about mexicos water crisis please consider boycotting brands like coca cola and heineken. they are the ones running mexico's water supplies dry. I am aware of the "mexicans drink too much coke lmao" stereotype but it is because they have made us dependent on their brand, making it so in certain places of mexico, a coca cola bottle is cheaper than water. all thanks to our ex president Vicente Fox <3

Translation: liters of water extracted annually.

Had to explain to a friend today that any mention of "adrenochrome" in almost literally any context is a wildly concerning neo-Nazi dogwhistle, so uh... just in case anyone following me is part of today's lucky ("lucky") 10,000, here's the run down:

In the 1970s, some researchers theorized that the compound adrenochrome could maybe be the cause of schizophrenia and did some studies on it (spoiler alert: it was not actually the cause of schizophrenia). Separately, a close chemical relative and derivative compound is a hemostatic medication. These are pretty much the only things that adrenochrome has ever been used for in real life. A very small number of biotech companies still synthesize it, mostly for research into other derivatives of it that could maybe also be used in surgery or as hemorrhoid medications. But there's not any irl medical use for adrenochrome itself at this time.

SEPARATELY FROM ALL OF THAT IRL STUFF there is an antisemitic conspiracy theory that Jews and/or Lizard People kidnap children, harvest their blood in order to make adrenochrome, and use it as an elixir of eternal youth.

Now you may be thinking, gosh, that sounds a lot like Blood Libel... and you would be correct! All adrenochrome conspiracy theories are at their core just repackaged Blood Libel with a vaguely sci-fi-esque coat of paint, and almost all of the ones where we know the exact origin of the conspiracy theory were created by literal neo-Nazis and white supremacists.

If you see any mention of "adrenochrome" and it's not in the context of "a small biotech company is researching it in the hope of developing new hemorrhoid meds", that is a MAJOR dogwhistle and red flag. It's a dogwhistle on about the same level as "1488", and no, I am not exaggerating when I say that. If you see someone making adrenochrome jokes, block, report, and don't touch anything of theirs with a ten foot pole. If they are not a neo-Nazi or white supremacist themselves, then at minimum they are someone who is deep enough into neo-Nazi and white supremacist social circles that they are making neo-Nazi and white supremacist in-jokes. Don't interact with them, and for fuck's sake, don't platform them; this is fundamentally not just some funny internet meme that you can laugh off.

Someone in the notes brought up "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", and they're right that that is a bit of an interesting complication, and so I think it's probably worth adding an explanation for people who are confused.

The book "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" (and the movie that was based off of it) mentions "adrenochrome" in the context of recreational drug use – which, to be clear, is not a thing the adrenochrome has ever been used for, or even could be used for. This is like if a book or movie talked about "snorting hydrocortisone at the club".

What seems to have happened, as best I understand it, is: "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" was written by Hunter S. Thompson, who did absolutely spend time in deeply creepy far right social circles, including social circles with legit white supremacists and neo-Nazis, because he was a journalist, and was writing about the dark side of various counter cultural movements of the late 1960s and 70s, many of which absolutely had a white supremacist fringe. He seems to have confused the "adrenochrome" that he was occasionally hearing about with one of the irl stimulant drugs that was actually being used by these groups (probably dextroamphetamine), and thought that "adrenochrome" was just another street name for an irl recreational drug.

If you encounter someone talking about "adrenochrome" as though it is a street name for a recreational stimulant that has basically the same effects as dextroamphetamine, they are probably thinking of the drug as it is portrayed in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", and they are not necessarily a neo-Nazi.

IF, on the other hand, you encounter someone talking about adrenochrome in a context which implies that it has anything to do with remaining young, or that it's extracted from the blood of kidnapped children, or that it's used only by "the Elites", or anything else even remotely in that direction, that's 100% neo-Nazi shit, or, best case, sometimes it's neo-Nazi shit that has been filtered through Qanon.

Please don't fall into the trap of "this one movie used the term adrenochrome to refer to a different recreational drug, so idk, maybe this person who wrote about Hillary Clinton taking adrenochrome is thinking of that." In my experience, the vast majority of uses of this term are using it in the neo-Nazi / white supremacist sense, not in the "idk I think it's a street name for an upper, maybe?" sense. "Maybe they're just thinking of 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'" is the adrenochrome equivalent of "maybe they're tagging this post 88 because it's a Chinese lucky number". It's possible, but it's rare, and context clues and common sense should pretty easily sort out the two uses from each other.
