Tar Sands and the Keystone XL Pipeline...

Hello my beautiful Friendlies and livejournalers!

ok, so enclosed is a letter about the absolutely vile and disgusting tar sands project happening in canada, which, according to the powers that be, could be piped all over north america... maybe you're thinking that it sounds like a good thing, but think again. PLEASE watch this video before you read on as it will put everything in perspective.

(i'm serious, watch it!! don't read another word until you do.)

This is something that i care a lot about, so please take this seriously. i'm not just arbitrarily posting this to all of you for some lame ass bull shit. I am certain that some of you probably already KNOW all of this and seen or read this, or something similar to it already. We have to end our total dependence on fossil fuels and move toward finding ways to make renewable energy sources more efficient and reduce our waste and usage! Destroying the planet is not going to get us what we want.

WHAT: Protest at the Department of Environmental Conservation
WHERE: 270 Michigan Ave Buffalo NY
WHEN: Monday March 7th 2011 Noon - 2PM

Where was the DEC when the Niagara River was being polluted with fracking
waste water for at least the last YEAR? Where else is this toxic waste
going? We will call on Gov. Cuomo to define fracking waste water as
"hazardous material" so that it doesn't keep finding it's way in to sewage
treatment plants that do not have the technology to clean it!
