Need people to understand on a basic level that The Original Superhero is an immigrant victim of catastrophe, adopted and loved but estranged, tokenized, weaponized, objectified, alienated and used. okay. i'm just gonna say it. i feel like it needs to be said. everyone has been too quiet on this for too long. the fact that we all act like it's okay that every century gets called one century above what the years make it feel like it should be is NOT OKAY. we can't keep pretending it isn't confusing to hear "18th century" and go "oh yeah, the 1800s - oh wait nooo 1700s." we need to stop letting this happen. we can change history. language is malleable. i'm taking a stance.

#feminist things that bothered me as a child but i didn't quite have the language to articulate my problems: descriptions of foreign cultures where the author describes what The People are like, and then in another few sentences describes "their women". like women are not actually an innate part of said culture and people but some sort of special case hanger-on.
