'The Last Bastion - Cover' (2026)

“The Last Bastion of the Empire”, the people called them— there was no one else left in the Imperial City strong enough to challenge the forces arrayed against them.

-- 'The Last Bastion', Act II, Chapter 8, describing the group of legionaries and city guards who rescued and defended survivors of the Soulburst and Molag Bal's invasion of Nirn in the Imperial City.

Your thoughts on the legalize Skooma movement?

Dear reader,

I doubt such a movement exists, since nobody has anything to gain from lobbying for such a thing.

For skooma addicts, it doesn't matter if it is legal or not and they'll already do whatever they can for their next dose. For skooma smugglers, most of the profit and power comes from it being an illicit good to be controlled on black markets across Tamriel. For anyone else with sense, they'd rather not cross either of those two groups.

Besides, the only real universal ban on skooma is upheld in the Aldmeri Dominion from what I've heard. Within the Empire (or what's left of it anyways), skooma prohibition can be anywhere between policed and quietly accepted. You can be arrested in Kvatch for touching a bottle, but Bravil has it's own den that most everyone pretends doesn't exist.

Your thoughts on Dunmer & Argonian romantic relationships?

Avatar

'Dear reader,

An interesting question. I've certainly seen all sorts of relationships between races, but that sort of pairing makes for scintillating dinner table conversation. Should historic slavemasters be in love with their slaves? Most anyone would say no.

While I'm not most anyone, I've collected tales of bitter and sometimes misplaced revenge between Dunmer and Argonians. There is one story of ill-fated lovers who tried to escape Morrowind. After they crossed the border, the Dunmer was shot by Saxhleel who earnestly believed they were freeing their kin.

It's difficult for the two races to co-exist, let alone be happy in love. I think of it a bit like mixing ash and mud: one comes from a land of fire, and another from a land of water, and both seem quite the opposite to one another. But when you combine the two, they eventually harden as sturdy as stone. I like to think there's a tenuous balance between Dark Elves and Argonians that makes for stronger bonds than any other.

After all, is it not more powerful to love despite enmity?

Female skin is done, we're getting fucking close lads I can feel it. After I do some minor adjustments to the male skin + convert the body textures, I might be able to do an initial release.

At current, it's playable, but there are a few issues that cause textures to revert back to their vanilla states in specific instances. The main is that becoming a vampire will revert the head back to the vanilla head and textures, but that's a known issue with many mods that ad new head parts (ie high poly head). The other instance, is a problem with racemenu resetting everything but the diffuse map, back to the vanilla textures, resulting in this somewhat unnerving image:

I could get past all this by making it a custom race, which I would rather not do, but if that ends up being the best solution I'll bite the bullet on it.

Anyway, with that I'm going to be taking another, hopefully way shorter, break on this to work on some other projects and talk to a few other modders about possible solutions.

Undergoing a bit of an Elder Scrolls renaissance atm..... here's a really old character of mine who's gone through a few iterations over the five years I've had her: Irilara, an Indoril councilor from the Second Era. Don't let her prim and proper stature fool you; she's a notorious and volatile reactionary. Her faith in the Tribunal is unquestionably devout, but her political loyalties appear divided…

A question. Have you even been to Elsweyr? If so what do you think of the land and its people from what you’ve seen of it?

Avatar

'Dear reader,

Part of my role as archivist is finding new additions to our collection from across Tamriel, and for the most part I'm assisted by finds made by others of Clan Sekiryu. However, I prefer to get out of Fort Dragonclaw when I can and seek such additions myself.

I've been to Elsweyr several times. Most everyone else in the clan can't make it out that way because the Knahaten Flu and the damage it inflicted still lingers in parts of the province. Whole communities were closed shut to quarantine the Flu, and even the city of Orcrest was sealed off while the rest of its people died within.

Pellitine went a step further by taking to purifying flame and burning people in their hearth and homes at even the whisper of a cough. The Scorch of 565 was so devastating that today you can still walk past the ashen remains of entire villages in the countryside. It also meant that much of their written accounts of history and recent times were lost in the purging fires.

I wish I had been able to see the Elsweyr Confederacy at its height before the Flu laid it low. Much of its northern-western territory was annexed by opportunistic Colovian soldiers seeking to take advantage of the weakened Khajiit. Most recently, the ruling family of Anequina were butchered by soldiers under the command of Euraxia Tharn who then subjugated Rimmen to Imperial rule.

That's not to say the Khajiit cannot recover. With aid from their alliance with Queen Ayrenn's cosmopolitan Aldmeri Dominion, the Khajiit of Elsweyr fought back and liberated all of its territory from both the Colovians and Euraxians, and this is in spite of the threat of dragons rampaging across their countryside. Even Senchal has been lead on a path of recovery and reconstruction by the former Thirteenth Legion of Cyrodiil.

I have tremendous respect for the Khajiit of Elsweyr. I have yet to archive complete collections of their history and culture, but even just judging them by the various crises they have not only endured but managed to bounce back from speaks volumes of their resilience. I hope to see them rebuild until they are reminiscent of the Elsweyr Confederacy when North and South united as one.

Follow up question to the OC question I asked a few months back. What classes are your OCs proficient in? This can include custom classes too.

Thanks and keep up the good writing wizard lizard.

Dear reader,

I have always found it bizarre that some people feel the need to categorise everyone by certain 'classes'. By all means, most people do fit criteria to be classed as, say, warriors or mages. But many would feel insulted to be put in a sort of box, and certainly if you mistakenly classify a battlemage as a spellsword (they do not take kindly to it).

Nevertheless, I have since expanded on the list from last time, and have compiled their names into a ledger that I will maintain. I've classified every person in there as best I could, but it also includes details such as 'hometown' and 'race' if those interest you.

I've included a copy of the ledger with my letter. Enjoy.
