Confusing question, but stay with me on this:
If you could time travel back to the 2003 season and say to everyone that the team that lost 119 games in arguably one of the worst major league seasons ever would defeat a highly favored Yankee team in the ALDS and advance with ease into the World Series in the next 3 years, how hard do you think everyone would laugh?
I'm still a little shellshocked at how fast this team has gone from one of the biggest loser teams in the league and completely incapable of making the playoffs for decades to enormous World Series favorites.
I seriously can't believe what happened. It's definitely been a sad couple of days in baseball. He seemed like such a good guy, it's a shame us Yankee fans didn't get to learn much about him.
RIP Cory. I'm sure you're up there playing catch with Thurman.
sooo yesterday was my first trip to yankee stadium.
that place is absolutely amazing.
i didn't want to come home.
the game was absolutely amazing as well.
i honestly don't think i've ever heard anything so beautiful in my life as when 'enter sandman' started playing and rivera crossed the field.
eeee, i can't even explain my excitement right now.
all in all, it was totally worth the drive (4 hours there and 7 hours home - damn traffic) and i'm totally planning on making the trip as many times as possible next season.
:) :) :)
this community has been pretty quiet, but i wanted to share my news with people who would appreciate it.
i'm getting ready this morning and my mom comes into my room to tell me to not make any plans for august 31st. i didn't ask questions because i'm heading back to school in a few weeks, so i just assumed it was something to do with that. as she leaves my room, she goes "you'll be spending the day in new york" and shuts the door. it takes a minute for that to sink in and i fling open my door to find her still standing there with a smile on her face. i ask what she means and she replies with "august 31st, 1:05pm, detroit tigers vs new york yankees at yankee stadium, you will be at that game."
cue me jumping around screaming and throwing confetti.
i have been dying to get to yankee stadium since, uh, forever. however, living in massachusetts with die hard red sox fan parents and lack of sufficient funds / anyone to travel to new york with me, i figured it was never going to happen. but instead i have the coolest parents in the world who are willing to travel to the dark side to see their worst rival play at their home stadium just for meeeee! :)
and that's the end of my story.
