It's just been announced that the motion to stay same sex marriages in California has been DENIED. Prop 8 will no longer be the law of the land on August 18th at 5pm! :D
Also, I've been going slightly crazy trying to find uses for two pounds of blackberries. So far, I've made sorbet, cornbread, and scones. I think I'll be making syrup for iced tea/soda/lemonade and jam soon...
So I just found a link that someone on abaissé posted a while ago to an essay that Baudelaire wrote on Les Misérables and for some reason I decided to try and translate part of it. This is my first real attempt to translate French into English and I'm afraid that parts of it are a bit awkward, but I think it's fairly accurate and comprehensible. The original can be found here. (10littlebullets if you would mind taking a look at how I did, I would be much obliged).
And that's it for Paris. Look for London and Dublin to be posted in the near future, as I've actually uploaded everything and gotten it to face the right direction now.
So, I put off making a photo post until I got all of my Dublin and London pictures from that other memory card uploaded. Well, I haven't done that yet but since I figured of you are more interested in Paris anyways, I thought I might as well get started on the Paris photos.
I have orientation on the 21st and have still not finished even one of my four summer reading books. It's not that I'm a bad reader, it's just that there is so much else I'd rather read. Today, for example, I sat in bed for two hours re-reading Speak and then spent more time with Vonnegut. I'm hopeless.
There are a few things which might conspire to help me finish my reading, though. My internet has been on and off for the past day and a half. And we have a hammock now. Yes, we have an honest-to-gods hammock in our yard. So, the plan is, that I will spend some quality time tomorrow on said hammock and be done with Huck Finn once and for all.
Also, I want to do something next week, so anyone who's free can give me a call. I'd need to know in advance, though, so I can figure out what day to go in for my last day at the internship.
