I did it!

But Jesus, that was hard! I have sore muscles I didn't even know existed. Off to a shower and bed.

The best intentions

I woke up at five this morning, and was apparently all done sleeping. it's okay. I've been hitting the hay around 10 every night, so am still getting a fair amount of sleep. My alarm is set for six, but after just a week on this schedule, I seem to naturally awaken before it goes off. My intention was to write a proper update, because in the past ten days, my life has changed a lot. But here it is, an hour later, and I've written nothing- although spending some proper time with the flist was fun!

Anyway, the short version is that things are good. Better than they've been in quite a few years in fact. I'll just have to fill you in on the details later. :-)

Still cheerful

And it's been nearly a week, so quite amazing. I guess it's a good sign that there hasn't been any big changes in my material circumstances, so I can't ascribe it to something wonderful like winning the lottery. I've just been terribly productive, even though I have yet to see results. I finally got signed up at a temp agency, so hopefully I'll be working very soon. They are looking at some temp-to-permanent positions, which would be just ideal.

Otherwise, just a crazy busy weekend. Mostly socializing though, so that's good.

I've got a tiny bit of sore throat tonight, but I've already had everything going around, so it must not be too significant. I'll just drink hot tea and go to bed super-early!

Doggie tales

Yesterday, on Sasha's afternoon walk, a guy popped out of a house and yelled, "Is that dog named Simba?" I was all, er, no.

This morning, I went out at 6 am- 1 hour earlier than usual, since the downside of feeling good is that I wake up insanely early and literally POP out of bed- and ran into a lady walking her very pretty border collie-type dog. So he doesn't really look like Sasha, although he's about the same size, with pointy ears and fluffy tail. "Hi!" she said, "This is Simba." Which was a little strange. No preamble or anything. So of course I had to tell her about the guy yesterday. She was as puzzled as I was.

Now I'm wondering what significance Simba may have in my life. Or perhaps Sasha's life. Hmm.

Just for the record

I had a really good day today. The best I've had in about five years. Nothing earth-shattering happened, but a lot of little things went right, and more importantly I just felt good. It's pretty sad when feeling cheerful becomes a life event!

I love living here!

Sometimes it's like being in a highly sanitized Deadwood! Yesterday, as I was heading out of town, I drove by Hanley Farm, run by the Southern Oregon Historical Society. It was a beatiful day, and there were two teams of draft horses out on the field, pulling plows. Complete with "farmers" in period costume. I really need to carry my camera with me all the time for this reason.

Then, today, I was walking downtown between rain showers, to library and post office, and ran into various and sundry neighbors in full Victorian garb. Saturdays are costume day, and anyone who feels to inclined strolls around looking like various historic personages. One lady had particularly wonderful dress, hair and hat, but she held a parasol in one hand, and a cell phone in the other. Oh well. Good enough for me.
