One magical night, we watched in awe
transfixed by the erotic dance
of a thousand twinkling fireflies
lighting the forest with a haunting glow
beckoning us to imagine mystical journeys
to different worlds and different times

We stayed for hours, silently wondering
how long the dance could last
how long the passion would burn
under nature’s umbrella of darkness
accompanied by chattering crickets
distant thunder, and bellowing frogs

Lost in thoughts of why and how
hand-in-hand, we returned home
the twinkling dance of light
fresh on our spirits, warm on our souls
and seeing each other in a new light
of awe and wonder, we went to bed
and lit each other up like fireflies"
