an exercise in self control

Christmas time is my favorite time of the year. I have been thinking about what I want to say on this blog to commemorate the awesomeness that is Christmas. But of course, nothing deep and thought provoking will come out. So before Christmas is completely gone, here is my list of things I LOVE about Christmas: (in no particular order)

- Christmas hymns, especially O Holy Night
- reading the about the birth of Jesus in Luke 1-2
- NO SCHOOL!
- when my sister and cousins and their families all get together
- kbbq and dim sum and lots of boba with sister/cousins/families
- Christmas decorations and lights
- making gingerbread houses at school with my class
- watching a movie with Chris' family
- Christmas music
- when idol groups release special Christmas singles (best one this year is Infinite's Lately)
- Christmas movies on tv
- Christmas specials for music shows
- spending time with both parents and in laws and partaking in family traditions
- buying the perfect present for someone and seeing their face when they open it
- getting the perfect present!
- Disneyland at Christmas time!
- snow (real or fake)
- seeing my niece and nephew experience Christmas
- having free time to meet up with people
- things decorated with gold and silver
- the Polar Express (book, not movie)
- the atmosphere of the Christmas Spirit
And last but not least!
When Christmas is over, and it's a little sad as things are winding down.... Now it's Gayo Daejun time, baby! :) :) :) so looking forward to that! Gotta see what the schedule looks like for this year! Whooo hooo!

There is a lot of great music already in 2011. Boy band comebacks! whoo hoo! :) I was eagerly anticipating, and most of them have not disappointed. Infinite's Before the Dawn and Teen Top's Supa Love are both pretty good. Neither video makes sense to me though. Why are L and Woohyun fighting each other? Why is that man in black destroyed by sunlight? What's with that big post thing on chains? What's with the girl they boys are trying to save in Supa Love? She does not look like she's in danger. Is Eric some sort of super hot Charlie a la Charlie's Angels? Why do both group's stylists hate them? TT's especially? What is UP with the HAIR?!?! See? No sense made here.

Still awaiting Big Bang and Dalmatian....

Also, started watching "My Princess"... My love for SSH, my first Korean Drama Love, all sorts of rekindled. I love the conceited rich boy he plays. Conceited rich boys turning into caring loving drama leads is my favorite. Jerry in Meteor Garden and Down with Love, So Yijung and Gu Junpyo in BoF, Lee Seunggi in Gumiho, Rain in Full House, and now Song Seungheon. Love it! And way to be an adult, thanks! :) Finally, back to the love whose noona I am NOT. (don't look at the Minho userpic. :P)

That is all.... Yay for a 3 day weekend! Thank you MLK for all the changes you helped to bring about in our country. And really, thanks for the day off. :)

Even though all the end of the year specials have been taking up my time and hard drive space, since today is the last day of 2010, I wanted to post about the end of the year. All in all, I think people would say that 2010 wasn't a fantastic year for kpop (so much drama!), but I did have a lot of fun listening to rookie groups and my boys SHINee had a greaaaat year. And really, I love them enough that they can change my perspective for the whole year of kpop. So here are my Top 10 Songs of 2010:

So I apparently only lj when I am sick. Or on Minho's birthday. Or both. Heh, cuz the last two years I've taken a sick day on Dec 8th, just in time to celebrate my bebe's birthday in Korea. Except, not really, cuz I'm sick and I'm mostly just sleeping and watching "Friends" and drinking tea. But still! I shall make the time to make an lj post in honor of my bebe's 19th/20th birthday.

This is my new hobby. My friend has been crocheting for a while and started making these little birds. So I started to make them too. This is my first bird. :)

I also bought a whole bunch of stuff to make other things.

Currently I'm starting 3 little blue birds. I'm eventually trying to make all the birds from "Angry Birds" except maybe not so angry. :) I also wanna make a twejitokki (pig-rabbit) from "You're Beautiful". And a bear. Cuz I like bears. :) but just the birds for now!

I'm totally not used to being active for multiple hours of the day. Wow. That sounds super sad. But it's true. The end of last week was spent at my school, moving things into and out of my new classroom. I'm happy that things are finally coming together, even though I still have 12 thousand things to do. But I'm so tired. I had my first day back at work today, meetings and more class prep stuff. I'm not used to waking up at 6:40. And being active through the whole day. Still have a lot of stuff to do, but at least things are cleaner now! Whoo hoo! I'll try to take a picture of my classroom when it's actually all pretty.

I realized something though, while setting up my room. Having a church family is GREAT. :) I had a lot of friends come to help me set up my class and move furniture and clean things. Even though I told my co-workers it was because I bribed them with delicious, authentic tacos, my friends from church also come to help me because they love me and don't mind sacrificing their time and energy to come and help me out. They don't really get too much out of it, and it's not like I'm all that awesome, but man... Church Family LOVE. :) I'm very thankful for them and their service to me and my future students. :)

In other news... Becca and I started watching "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" with Lee Seunggi and Shin Mina.



So far, 1 ep in, and it's pretty cute. Shin Mina is super pretty, and Lee Seunggi is super cute. (heh. you like that? :)) Good times. After our "You're Beautiful" marathon, I'm looking forward to watching this at a normal pace. Hopefully, we will still be able to squeeze it in as school starts.

ALSO. We are going to SMTown Live. I am so excited all my exclamation points have disappeared. Super Junior. SHINee. SNSD. F(x). Other people. I am going to explode into bubbles of joy. Really. I know you can't tell from my lack of exclamation points. But it is there. With a vengeance. I dunno if that even makes sense. But that is how excited I am.Woot woot.

Another birthday come and gone... All in all I had a pretty great birthday. Went to Disneyland on Saturday - and I LOVE Disneyland with a deep and burning passion. Saw the new World of Color show - so amazing. Good times, and my friend Janice is a Disney PRO. Seriously, secret lines and everything.

For today my actual birthday, Chris had the day off so we got to spend the whole day together. It was pretty awesome. Slept in, watched Despicable Me, Korean food for lunch, napped, went to Barnes and Noble, steak at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, and the Cafe Venti for 빳빙수 (and kpop music videos) with friends! Those are all my favorite things! I was gonna add going to the mall too, but we napped instead. I have the best husband ever!

I was going to write deep thoughts about birthdays, but I am super full and sleepy so too bad. Maybe tomorrow...

I admit I stayed up for this. So worth it. It's not even that late!!!!

I LOVE SHINee! Like so much! Even though I hate this song title, and the meaning behind it. (Like seriously, it doesn't even matter if they REALLY mean the devil or not. It's just NOT a good connotation at ALL. And I kinda think using "Lucifer" instead of "Devil" makes it kinda more serious. Not a fan. Henceforth, I shall refer to it, song/album/mv, as "Luci") I HEART THEM. And by "them", I really mean Minho. Except not, cuz I really do heart all of them. But MINHO!!!! My baby! He looks all grown up! And like... he's got awesome hair, and a really long rap, and! He's sings! He's such a grown up! Even Nichkhun thinks so! "역시우리민호가 남자였어! ㅋㅋㅋ" (from his twitter) There is so much good-looking-ness in this mv. Still not able to see it in real HD though... I shall try that tomorrow on my tv.

I'm aliiiiiiiiiive! I know you all missed me right? hahah... Do I even HAVE lj friends anymore? I highly doubt it. I really should just move on, but I just can't seem to let you go... As always, when summer rolls around I jump on back into the internets. This past year was ridiculously in terms of having free time to do anything. Seriously, there was no time! So it's like the middle of July, I've had enough time to recover from the hardest year of my life, and now it's time to do some organization of all my internet type things. Meaning, I finally installed Windows 7... hahah... so much faster. I've been playing on my computer all day, trying to organize things... I think I've got it the way I want it now.

JUST in TIME for the NEW SHINee MV! Actually, I've sort of been online all day, but it hasn't come out yet? Or I haven't checked compulsively. I blame all the new musics I've been listening to, namely the SuJu repackaged, and Solar. The SuJu repackaged is so full of LOVE and happy! I heart them so much.

mmmm.... that is mostly all for now. I still have to install Adobe Design Suite on this comp before I can do any editing of profiles and such. So I'm off to do that! And check for the mv! *fingers crossed*

Spring Break 2010. Day 3.
This years theme: Self Control.
Current Status of Success: Moderate. :P

I went to the outlets today with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. They bought me a Coach purse for my birthday. (Even though my bday is MONTHS away... gotta take advantage of the sale!) I feel like such a grown up. :P It's really pretty. Tan and cream, with a pink satin lining. And I went with the more classic style, even though I really liked this "doctor bag" shaped one. But that one also made me feel like I need to wear giant sunglasses and put a tiny dog in it. Hahah... oh well! Also, bought a wristlet for myself, one that I've literally wanted for about 6 years. Win. And a black dress.

In keeping with the theme of Self Control: 2010, I am now browsing through my baking cookbook to figure out what stuff to make. I also took a nap this afternoon. And I am going to watch the first episode of "Oh My Lady"... in about four minutes.

Day 3 of Spring Break and already having SO MUCH FUN. The outlook for the rest of this break includes lots of cooking and baking (which Chris will love :)), more shopping trips (taking people shopping! Not just for me!), visiting Stella, Jared and Baby Enoch, housework, running errands for Sunday School stuff, meeting up with people.... and... oh yeah, probably figuring out what to teach when I go back to work. Plus, grading. FUN. Spring Break - Self Control: 2010, you will blow all other Spring Breaks out of the water.
