I'm so sorry we are long past due for May's fic challenge! Both your mentor and I have been insanely busy with this horrible "Real Life" business! I don't care for it at all!
The topic for May is actually my favorite! And since we've been late in posting, we will be taking submissions for it into June!
This month we want you to think a little about my magnificent home, the glorious Capitol! Possible plots may include

Hello, all you gorgeous people!
It's your perky little escort, exhausted from doing school-type things for far too long. I'm sorry I haven't been around to let you know how much your mentor and I are basking in your brilliant fics! But I've donned my favorite ostrich-feather dress and I'm feeling fresh to death, so here's a little love, encouragement (in all your endeavors) and updates!
We're still seeing some amazing work coming out of the ficathon and we encourage you to keep going! We recommend that you try to write a piece for every piece you suggest (i.e. if you request a fic, why not make someone's day and fill out a fic request? They don't have to be long!) Please please please don't feel pressured by any time constraints on the ficathon--because they don't exist!! I myself am working on filling two requests when I find the time to write, but alas I haven't finished anything yet! ;)
We're also approaching the end of our first monthly challenge! In case you've forgotten, the theme is Hope and Rebirth! Again, submissions don't have to be long--if you want to write an epic or a poem, whatever you fancy! We hope that we've provided a spark to think of some aspects of Panem that perhaps you haven't thought of before--I see this happening already in the ficathon! There are characters I've never really given passing notions to in the past and suddenly, thanks to your wonderful writing, I want multi-chapter novels all about them!! So hopefully the end of April will have some more coolness to showcase!
After receiving a few messages from people who'd like to participate but who don't write, we've also decided to open up both the ficathon and the monthly challenges to multimedia entries! This can be anything from a drawing to a gifset, a collage, a track list, a fan-vid, a photo...a picture of a potato that looks like Peeta Mellark, whatever you fancy! The point is to get creative!!
Once again, and always, thank you all for being a part of this community! we've put a lot of work into these projects, especially
retrostarfish, and your enthusiasm is a shining beacon of light! (Oh, now my mascara's running...my birdie eyelashes are going to wash right off!)

Hi, guys. Just a friendly reminder that the Bread and Circuses Ficathon is not dead. There are still plenty of prompts awaiting fulfillment, so please feel free to head over and check them out! And be sure to check out the stories that have already been written.
And please check out our very first prompt challenge! The theme for April is Hope and Rebirth. All characters are welcome, as long as the stories take place within the Panem universe. Entries are due by the end of the month. We would love it if you would participate!

Spring is a time of renewal and its coming marks the hope for new life and fresh starts. It is with this imagery that we invite you to write about the only thing stronger than fear. Our first monthly challenge will center around the themes of hope and rebirth.
We want your imaginations to fly, so feel free to interpret the themes in whichever way you please, using any characters within the Hunger Games universe.
If you're feeling a little stuck, possible prompts may include:
*Johanna Mason recovering post-war in District Seven
*Katniss and Peeta growing back together
*Annie and her son
*District Thirteen watching the 74th Hunger Games
*Mrs. Everdeen recovering from her husband's death
The rules are similar to those for the ficathon:
1. All pairings, characters, etc. are welcome
2. Any rating is allowed
3. In the interest of keeping with the theme of this community, the only AUs allowed are those that take place in Panem. All others (modern day, historical, etc.), while fun, we ask to please find another home for.
4. ALL POTENTIAL TRIGGERS MUST BE MARKED WITH A WARNING. This includes rape/non-con, death, substance abuse, violence, etc.

A word from one of your mods
I would just like to take a moment to say how thrilled I am to be part of this community and to see all the unique and beautiful fics that are coming out of our ficathon already! You've all impressed me with the wide variety of prompts and where you're all running with them! I know that the momentum and level of creativity will carry over to our first monthly challenge starting in April, which is (oh geez!) tomorrow! To coincide with the start of Spring and the fall of the Capitol, our first theme will be Hope and Rebirth.
