A thick slab of praise for J. Cannibal and his Feast of Flesh:

“J. Cannibal, the ‘King of Horror Burlesque.’” —Boston's Weekly Dig

“J. Cannibal's Feast of Flesh, led by real-life undertaker and zombie lover J. Cannibal, is a celebration of all things terrifying.” —The Improper Bostonian

“Think Rocky Horror Picture Show with less androgyny and more anthropophagy.” —The Onion

“[J.Cannibal] is the sort of guy people brag about knowing. After all, he sounds like an exotic, epic character: poet, undertaker, horror-burlesque king, small-press publisher, show promoter, fake-blood engineer.”
The Boston Phoenix

The perfect way to spend a Saturday Night in lovely downtown Cambridge, Massachusetts!

National headliners Ego Likeness (http://www.egolikeness.com/) (Metropolis Records) coming to town on:

SATURDAY, JULY 30th - Doors @ 8:15 PM ~ Ages 21+

The Cantab Lounge (Downstairs)

738 Massachusetts Avenue

Cambridge, MA 02138

http://www.cantab-lounge.com/

Ego Likeness are an electrogoth/darkwave band formed in Baltimore in 1999 by artist Steven Archer (guitar, vocals, synths, programming) and writer Donna Lynch (vocals, words, piano).

Supporting Ego Likeness for this show are the best of Boston's female-fronted bands:

Sans Nomenclature - http://www.sansnomenclature.net/ - If you've ever been jonesing for a band that sounds like "The Misfits-mated-with-The-Dresden-Dolls," Sans Nomenclature (thusly named because they are "without a label") is up your alley! Serving up a heavy helping of socio-politically-infused theatrical punk rock and imploring the populace to think for themselves, Sans could very well be the next affront in the revolution!

Lucretia's Daggers - http://www.lucretiasdaggers.com/ - With a namesake derived from '80s cult band The Sisters of Mercy, Shakespeare/Livy-penned poetic biography, and 16th c. Borgia legend, Boston, Massachusetts' musicians Lucretia's Daggers blend darkwave, synthpop, and ambient metal with dramatic female vocals and have brought an arty touch to their "dark lyrical electro-rock for the apocalypse" since August 2001.

Liz Borden - http://www.thelizbordenband.com/ - Sporting wispy pop harmonies and a giant, three guitar wall of sound, the group vacillate from Ramones-style power chord, to melodic complex songs and then pummeling to an even more ferocious kick ass rock and roll.

ATTENTION! THE CANTAB HAS LIMITED SEATING CAPACITY, SO PLEASE CONSIDER PRE-PURCHASING YOUR TICKET BEFORE THE SHOW. TIX WILL BE $12-15 AT THE DOOR. GET 'EM NOW FOR JUST $10.

Want to see The Wrathskellar for free?

Want to see The Wrathskellar for free? Want to be part of a new and unique theatrical experience?

We need box office volunteers for The Wrathskellar, October 26 through October 31 at The Cambridge YMCA Theater (820 Mass. Ave., Cambridge at Central Sq.). We especially need volunteers for Friday, October 29, Saturday, October 30, and Sunday, October 31. Spend Halloween with The Boston Babydolls! We do not need volunteers on Wednesday, October 27.

You need to be at the theater before 7 p.m. and sit in the box office booth from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., then you can watch the show. You need to be able to do simple math, handle money, and be pretty good with people.

If you're interested, please email TheScoop [at] Boston Babydolls [dot] net with your name, contact information, and the date(s) you'd like to help out.

If you're not of an altruistic bent and just want to buy tickets, you can do that too...

The Hunt Begins! Friday 10/1

The Wrathskellar is the new dark cabaret from The Boston Babydolls and the denizens of that dank tavern will be at  Mariposa Bakery tomorrow night — Friday, October 1 from 7pm to 9pm.

From October 1 through October 31, The Wrathskellar is holding a scavenger hunt throughout Central Square. Collect ephemera from The Wrathskellar universe, follow the clues into the darkness, possibly win a prize. The world of The Wrathskellar is a shadowy maze of riddles and half-truths. Unravel the mysteries and save yourself... some money on tickets.

Your first stop is Mariposa Bakery (424 Mass. Ave., Cambridge). You can stop there any time during the month to collect the first puzzle, but stop in on Friday night, October 1 from 7pm to 9pm and and sample some delicious food and drink along with members of our cast.

Once you've collected your first puzzle and followed it to the next stop, you'll be given another puzzle to solve... solve all the puzzles and you're given a key. Every key reaps a reward — a discount on admission to this remarkable Halloween experience — but some small number of keys will open The Chest at The Theater. What's inside The Chest? No one knows... but if your key unlocks the padlock, the contents are yours (whether you want them or not).

Good hunting... and Happy Halloween.
