No one ever posts here. Why? Where is everyone?!

I found a free audiobook that I wanted to share. I don't have the exact link (sorry) but it's at http://www.audible.com/logo and there's a button or something you can press that says download or something like that.

Anyway, it's from David Sedaris --- if you haven't heard of him, you have to download that short story because he is literally like pee your pants funny. I'm not just saying that either. I may or may not have had an accident. Hahaha. Okay, I didn't but his books are GREAT. Especially the audiobooks because he has such a beautiful reading voice. :)

Brydon's quest was simple. Borrow the fabled Gauntlet of Ven-Kerrick, bring it home to prove his worth, marry the princess, and ascend the throne.

He had planned for the dangerous terrain and Redolian assassins, but he did not count on slavers and werewolves.  He did not expect the Gauntlet to be missing, nor to find the Kerrick royal family murdered, and he definitely did not anticipate the distractions of a sultry thief and a rescued slave girl.

Luckily, his worst enemy was there to help him out.

Here's a great summer read for teenage girls - I read first it in seventh grade and loved it; now I'm entering college and I still think it's brilliant. Everything is written in free verse, with beautiful illustrations. Highly recommended.

(The video is only a minute long; make sure to turn up the sound.)

Happy reading!

Looking for literature with Themes of Motherhood in times of war

Hey everyone. I was wondering if you guys can suggest some short stories, poems, or fictional novels that are about motherhood in times of national wars. I prefer contemporary American literature. This request is for my thesis. Motherhood and war is only one of the themes that I am proposing to pursue. I got my idea from the poem "The Mother/Child Papers" by Alicia Ostriker and Judith Merril's short story "That Only a Mother" and her early fiction Shadow on the Hearth.

Fictions, novels, poems, short stories about motherhood

Hey everyone,
I am in the midst of researching for my thesis for my M.A. degree and well, I am really disappointed that I can't read the books that I really want to read. As my topic is on contemporary American fiction, I was wondering if you guys can recommend some of your favorite fictions that dealt with the themes of motherhood. Any works you can think of that are similar to Evelyn Scot's Escapade and

Thank you.

Slow reads

Well the last book i picked up, Daughter, I put it down after 50 pages because it was moving rfeally slow with little literary affects to keep me interested. I picked up Cry, The Beloved Country by Alan Paton and I just don't see what all the hype is about. I mean its not as slow as Daughter, but the writing isn't as good as I thought it would be. I am on page 100 and I won't put it down. But for those who have read Cry, The Beloved Country, can you tell me some things you liked or disliked about it?
Happy reading!!
