Live Journal, How I've Neglected Ye

I've been gone a long time, concentrating on writing and not much else. I have Facebook and Twitter accounts which I also ignore. And I gave up on my blog long ago. But you can learn more about what I've been up to on my web site. http://bonniedee.com
Lots of books there in many genres and many heat levels. That's what I've been doing since my fanfiction writing days.

Heat Wave IN PRINT-Big Contest!

Midsummer Night's Steam stories are now available in paperback from Samhain or Amazon to enjoy at the beach. The stories are bundled in several anthologies including HEAT WAVE which features three of the Erotic Muses authors.

To celebrate the release, the HEAT WAVE authors are having a contest. The prize is a tote bag with summer items: suntan lotion, a beach towel, a baseball cap, sunglasses and a margarita glass. All you have to do to enter is stop by EROTIC MUSES blog every day this week (May 26-30) and learn about these great stories! Leave a comment Tuesday through Friday for a chance to win. To clarify: YOU MUST LEAVE A COMMENT ALL FOUR DAYS-TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE.

The winner will be announced the following Friday, June 6, giving latecomers a chance to enter. If you don't find out about the contest until the second week, that's okay...go back to the previous week's posts and drop a comment.

This week each of us will profile our books, including Jamie Craig, the author of Liaisons in Jubilee. The other stories in the anthology are Blackberry Pie by Bonnie Dee. Second Wind by Dee S. Knight and Hunk of Burnin' Love by Veronica Wilde.

Chocolate Lovers Take Note!

The Valentine Effect, a Strangers in the Night story from Samhain is available now. To celebrate its release, I’m giving away a heart-shaped box of chocolates from the South Bend Chocolate Company (regular or sugar-free, your choice) to the winner of a drawing.

A man whose passionate heart has been torn apart. A woman who’s never risked hers. Can love bring them a new beginning?

Carrie Morrison is resigned to spending another Valentine’s Day alone, but Cupid brings her a surprise—packaged in the hot body of the father of one of her third grade students. When Enrique Torres stops by her classroom to discuss his son, sizzling chemistry erupts between them.

Ric is a widower, father, garage mechanic, and the hottest Latin lover a woman could wish for to fulfill her Valentine fantasies. One hot night with Carrie in his bed leaves him wanting more, but she’s not sure if she’s brave enough for a relationship beyond a one night stand.

But Ric isn’t about to let Carrie go that easily. She has healed his broken heart, and he’s ready for forever.
The contest question is “What was the name of Rick’s deceased wife?” The answer can only be found within the book, so to play you’ll need to pick up a copy, but trust me, you’ll really enjoy this Valentine confection of a story. It’s a rich chocolate romance with a little nip of cayenne.

Email me your answers at bondav40@yahoo.com . Please put the word Contest in the subject line so if your email accidentally gets sent to my spam box, I can still locate it. I check my spam regularly because we all know how yahoo often sends things astray! The deadline for entries will be February 1.

It's been a long haul, but we're really happy to see the book in print.

OC Finale

So, it’s over. I feel funny inside.

Even though I felt it was time for this show to end, it’s like a guy you didn’t really care about any more breaking up with you. He’s gone. You were annoyed with him and tired of him, but you miss him.

After a great start to this last season, I personally felt the show went downhill again. The plotting was as frantic as a child rocketing from one carnival ride to the next. “Just slow down!” I wanted to shout. Once again gold mines of opportunity were passed over. Ryan’s issues with his father were never addressed in the in-depth way I’d hoped and expected to see. Taylor, whom I really enjoyed, was rammed down our throats in massive doses. Too much! And Julie’s romantic entanglements took center stage. The back and forth nonsense between Bullet and Frank was crazy. Yes, I agree Julie needed to learn to stand without either man and that part was great—but it all happened with such breathtaking speed it was completely unbelievable.

As for the finale, I felt it was like a tall cappuccino. I sipped and sipped and couldn’t get past the foam. In the last few seconds I finally reached the coffee—a couple of inches in the bottom of the cup. That final montage with the music affected me in a way the entire rest of the episode didn’t.

Farewell, OC. You were special. Then you weren’t. Then you were again. Then you left me ambivalent. I loved you anyway.

Last Night's OC

Man, I’m liking this show better and better. Liked this one more than last week’s Thanksgiving episode, which as I’ve said, didn’t completely work for me.

Last year the few times I re-watched OC episodes I skipped all the non-Ryan related parts since every other storyline was boring to me. I could get through the whole season in about an hour! Last night’s episode engaged me from beginning to end. I watched it again this morning and wanted to see every part. Sandy and Kirsten back to first season matrimonial bliss. Sandy and his play date. Julie and Caitlyn working out their mother/daughter issues—completely intriguing. I’m enjoying Caitlyn so much.
Summer’s new college persona and even her interactions with Seth, which usually leave me cold were perfect. I know a lot of people don’t like Chris Pratt, but I think his granola-crunching character is hilarious.
I like Summer’s evolution into a dedicated person. Hey, you knew from her caring about the skinny squirrel clear back in junior high days that she had it in her to be a champion of nature. Her therapy sessions at the beginning were absolutely wonderful too.

The Ryan and Taylor parts absolutely worked for me. Taylor is the female Seth Cohen, a sad, lonely, vulnerable outsider, who chatters too much. Assuming Ryan and Taylor get together, he’ll actually be having sex with his best friend so all the Ryan/Seth shippers can rejoice. Clearly it would be another unhealthy relationship. Taylor gloms on to whoever shows her the least scrap of attention. Ryan needs to be needed by someone vulnerable and weak. Not healthy. Yet somehow this pair works for me in a way that vulnerable Marissa never did. And speaking of Marissa, do you know who I haven’t missed once this year? Not even a little? Not even for a moment, like a pang of ‘ooh she’s not around anymore, how sad’? I do not miss the character at all.

Loved the kissing and the sweet, sweet nose tap at the end. How could poor Taylor not be swept away, especially since she clearly falls easy. Looking forward to more of this interaction. If Ry can’t be with Summer, Taylor is a good, lively choice for him. I suppose she’ll only serve as a transition romance though for something else later in the season. And who here believes with me that sometime before the end of this show (assuming this IS the last season) that Ryan’s daddy must finally show up and cause trouble?

ETA: I'm even liking the music better this year than the past couple of years. Don't know if it's because I like the stories better or if it really is a better music collection. Some very good choices!

ETA2: Check out my new pic. It's the cover for Elzed and my book "Finding Home". Yay!

Moon Over Bourbon Street released

REAL WEREWOLVES! Read about a true case of werewolves on Silver Expressions blog today as I celebrate the release of “Moon Over Bourbon Street” from Liquid Silver books. My research for the book inspired me to discover werewolf legends, lore and fact. The case history of a family with lycanthrope disease is fascinating and worth checking out here: http://www.liquidsilverbooks.com/b…
Drop a comment. I’d love to see you there today.

“Moon Over Bourbon Street” is about a detective, Rick Plazier and his receptionist, Amy Chang working two angles of a case that leads them to an ancient, deadly paranormal organization. Rick must come to terms with his wolf aspect and learn to use it to his advantage when Amy goes missing. Check out the excerpt at Liquid Silver where the book is available today! http://liquidsilverbooks.com

The Cold Turkey

Was that the name of last night's episode?
I had mixed feelings about this one. It seemed a bit manic to me. And yes I know this show is all about the fast pace and whipping around from one thing to another, but there were times when the pacing seemed out of control. Who else thinks Josh is ADD?

I liked that we got to have one good solid Volchok punch from Ryan before he pulled back. If he hadn't hit the guy at all i would've felt cheated. Most people really loved the scene between them. I had reservations about everything to do with all Volchok scenes. I realize the guy had been wrestling with guilt for five months and it really changed him, but it seemed ludicrous that he'd call Sandy Cohen for help. And his penitent tone was so un-Volchok. Maybe I just need to watch again. I did love the callback to the pilot episode with Volchok instead of Ryan as the boy waiting for Sandy to come rescue him. (Usually I despise their heavy-handed callbacks)

Also, what was that thing about him being angry because Ryan had the girl. Ryan didn't have the girl. She was about to leave town. But maybe volchok didn't know that and he was only working from a visual.

I have to say I really got invested in Volchok more than any other character last season. He was such a screwed up bad boy with just tiny touches of something salvageable now and then (like his attempt to understand Marissa by watching The Sound of Music. I found that heart-wrenchingly endearing--enough to inspire a fic). Plus he had that dirty-boy hotness factor going. I'll miss him.

There were many sweet or touching or tragic moments in this; Julie alone at Thanksgiving, Summer's reminisces about Marissa, Julie/Ryan bonding and more. But there were missteps too. Funny, I can't remember what bugged me now.

Oh, I know, one thing was the closing scene, as they pull back from Ryan and Julie. He is animatedly telling her something, gesturing with his hands. It seemed inappropriate and unlikely. I would've liked to see a fadeout on them sitting silently side by side or at least having a more reserved talk.

I think I need to watch this again. There was too much to process all at once.

One question--when will enough time have passed for us to see Ryan in the sack with someone again?
