Hark! What Devil is This!?

Posting on LJ always takes me back ...

I just watched all 3 Mad Max movies and the fanfiction bug has bit me.  Why did no one inform me Mel was so effin HOT when he was 24 years old?  Damn!  Down, boy!

I even went so far as to search around online.  Is it just me, or has the quality of fan fiction deteriorated completely in the past 6 years?  I mean, yeah, there was always some terrible stuff, but holy heck, the stuff I cam across was just flat out AWFUL.  It's like someone injected all the Twilight kids with an uncontrollable urge to scribble down every passing thought!  Did no one tell them that writing is as much an excercise in what NOT to put to paper as it is in deciding what TO put down!?  Good grief.

Anyhow.  I'm off to find suitable pictures of Mad Max.

PS I refuse to even acknowledge that "Beyond Thunderdome" is part of the franchise.  The first movie was definitely the best of the 3.  The second one, meh.  I am not a fan of little kids in sequels.  So obviously the third one was atrocious.  But even had it not turned into the lost boys meets Indiana Jones meets the Goonies, it would have still been a terrible film.

But that first one.  Good stuff.  Almost horror-esque.  And DAMN did he look fine in all that black leather ...

PS the movies were all totally gay.  Gay in the literal sense, completely homoerotic.  Has no one ever commented on this!?  Men in skimpy leather loin cloths and SM wear, with the only women present being objectified as rape victims or sex objects?  Hmmmm.

and as the night stretched out across the land, millions they came, like every grain of sand.
through the elfin trees and amongst the shadows deeply delved, out they arrived, some like shunted welts.
so came the happening to be, glorious and smart and all to be free, all time laid out like a lost opaque fog,
down through the dells ran one silver, slavering dog.
then jumping over forest and moon, they ran and ran and howled at the gloom.
all through the darkened night, no fears of dying and running from the light, all silence then descended,
upon them all at once and in the misty valley, the storming scourge shuddered to a halt.
"you will not go further" the silence yelled, and yet they pressed on, past all reason, far into hell.

!! LJ!? Is that you!?

Lost in the real world.  I almost forget LJ exists.  (It's Facebook, now.)

Ummmmm.  LET's see ... fannish nerdy things ... okay ... need to confess ... I have a mega hard-on for bara manga, which, somehow, I have just recently discovered has its own subgenre.  (I am not - and never was nor have been - a person who knows much about manga - not including Berserk which I think sits in its own stratosphere, anyhow.)  Anyhow hot muscular or moderately stocky men + hand drawn porn + Japanese aesthetics = win.

What else?

Grisser - do you read this stuff?  Are you still doing artwork, and if so, where do you hide it all, nowadays?

What else ...

Oh OHHHH ... I am going to be playing AION.  I will be playing on the Israphel server; Asmodian (of course.)  Most likely a Warrior.  Anyone else playing this?  It's a fucking hot game.

You Know I'm Not Dead

I think I've grown up and become that "adult" that I never imagined I would become.  You know ... the boring one who only thinks about two things: work and money.

I don't read comics anymore, I haven't even looked at one until last night ...
I think that on my next day off I'm going to go find the local comic book store and pick some up and try to reconnect.

Hope you all are well out there!

I'm not dead ... just occupied!

I have barely looked at or thought about this blog in months.  I don't even know that any of the people who used to be listed on my Flist are active or what.  LOL

So anyway.

I have nothing noteworthy to say here ... but this picture is fun to look at :

Oh my GAD.

It really takes a LOT of HOT for me to be totally jaw-dropped by someone's picture.  In truth it doesn't happen too often.

Thankfully Hugh Jackman is here on this earth for all of us to enjoy.

A Beginning

***

He reached out, touched the skin.  Felt his hand slide over warm, smooth, muscle, satin and silk.  The leather was oiled and smelled faintly of sweat, and horse.  The creature’s cold eyes gazed at him impassively, saying nothing.  He might have been touching a statue.  The thing stood motionless.  It made no move to stop what was proceeding, no slight twitch, not a fracture of an instant did it maneuver away.  In likeness, it was a man – but Erik knew it was not a man.  The creature before him was a beast, in all ways.  It had the black heart of Chaos, the mark of Destruction on its breast.  Its shoulders, broad; chest, heavy with sinew, rippling with dark energy.  Erik’s gaze was rapture on the marble sculpture.  His hand slid lower, fingers grazing taut skin over the stomach and groin.  The creature drew a long, slow intake that sounded as a hiss, echoing off the cavern walls around them.

Erik dropped his hand.  He felt he could no longer maintain himself.  He was disgusted, revolted by his lack of discipline, his course of action had carried him down its stream, dragging him in a current of passion.  Passion for what?  Why?  Why now, why this thing before him, this thing he knew was evil, the bane of all he fought for?  He could only look at it, yet he could not take his stare away, despite his heart’s heeding.  Erik, you fool, he thought.  You utter fool; you failure at manhood, to desire this.

A rumbling in the distance disrupted his thoughts.  The creature looked up and over Erik’s shoulder, and Erik turned.  The sky outside had clouded over with heavy black cirrus.  Black birds circled the field below them.  Drums sounded in the distance.  The ground reverberated with the feel of one million marching feet.  Erik turned back to what was before him, and its gaze was upon him, as well.

In an impulse, as one about to die and knowing there is nothing to lose, Erik leaned forward, grasped each of its shoulders in his hands, and pressed himself to the thing, his lips gently touching its own.  The dark eyes rose, shining with intensity.  Erik had not yet removed his hands, slowly leaning back to observe the reaction to come.  The creature did not tremble, but whatever was within, beat fast and hard.  Erik suddenly felt hands on his waist, harsh, crushing.  His back slammed into a wall, and he the space before him blackened.

Opening his eyes, he was alone in the cave.  The creature was gone.

He lifted a finger to a tickle on his lips – and wiped away blood.

Out of Touch!

I've been scouring the Internets looking for any kind of Batman slash involving the movie versions of Harvey Dent and - well obviously Batman.

The odd thing is I have always been a huge stickler for fic being based on the original medium -- i.e. comic books -- rather than the offshoot medium (movies).   One of the reasons I fell out of the X-Men fandom is because after the movies came out -- everyone that had never read the comic book was churning out movie-verse fan fiction -- and the movie-verse became the default fan verse for the stories ... and that just left me feeling unfulfilled.

However, in this case, I find myself far preferring the chiseled, pleasant features of Aaron Eckhart and Christian Bale while I imagine my characters.

Of course with the movie being out just one week there really isn't anything with those two from the movie-verse, yet.  (I'm talking Dent pre-Two-Face of course!  When he's still a nice guy with a whole face and a terrific foil to Batman.)

So I've actually done something that surprises me a little bit - I've started writing my first piece of Batman fanfic.  Not only is this the first time in years that I've attempted or even desired to write any kind of fanfic -- but it's Batman.  Which is unusual in that I have never been an overly huge fan of Batman ... although I always liked the idea and concept.

In the meantime I am keeping my eyes peeled.

Really sets the mood perfectly for writing Batman fic, I think. :)

Oh Mr. Martin ...

Although you have not yet finished your novel I am sure you will be glad to know that someone at your publishing house has decided it will be done.  And how long it will be.

Barnes and Noble has listed it in their database:

Page count and all.

Just saying.  :)
