OK, guys.
I joined the 21st century and downloaded iTunes. I've been copying CDs to my hard drive, so now I really am listening to music 21st century-style. I listen almost exclusively to the radio and to music on my computer, so it made sense -- I was going to wear out my computer's CD-ROM drive.
But that aside, I got a pretty sad response to my Lyrics meme. So like
outotoro, I'm going to give clues for the 22 still unsolved songs!
1. "A game that's made for two/ That's you and me/ The rules remain a mystery" (A younger artist who I've referred to in a previous post a few months ago. He's also on my Interests list. From my #1 favorite song on my #1 favorite CD.)
2, "And if we don't hide here, they're gonna find us" (A rather popular English band, also on my Interests list. My #2 favorite artist.)
3. "And my cousin Eddie/ He got shot in the Walmart parkin' lot" (Um... having a hard time thinking of a hint. From the same album as "Lullabye" and "Shimmer.")
5. "I come from top the mountain baby, where the people come to pray" (Famous jam band. A better line from this song is "The road is your end, your end is the road!")
6. "I fuss and quake and cavitate/ I try to speak and turn to stone" (Same band as above. Different album.)
7. "I heard him shout 'Who is he?'/ She mumbled low" (Ok, granted, I haven't heard this song except the radio station's special studio version, which version this is. I buy the CD every year. KBCO Studio C Volume 16. Good luck.)
8. "I went to the doctor and he said turn my head and then cough" (Same album and artist as #1. I swear I listen to this CD almost every day.)
9. "If she's gone I can't go on, deep in two foot snow" (Come on, it's a freakin' Beatles tune. But not their version. This one should be a gimme. Extra hint: it's a movie soundtrack.)
10. "I'll play it straight; you laugh and drink and party all night long." (Bluesy black woman artist with a rather homey, almost naive sound, at least in my opinion.)
11. "In the dimming light, on frozen ground I lay so helpless" (From the newest CD of a well-known, classic artist known for his piano playing -- and it's not Billy Joel or Elton John.)
12. "Every little thing you do is tragic/ All my life before was magic" (Not the Police classic, not sure if the line is a parody. Written by the Stones, but performed by a newer, well-known band.)
13. "Love just taught me to cry, so come on courage, teach me to be shy" (Well, this song got a lot of radio play on KBCO and other stations, so somebody ought to know it.)
15. "Nobody's romantic because its too early for dancing, but here comes the music" (Lesser known tune from a Hawaiian surfer.)
16. "Questions of science, science and progress/ Do not speak as loud as my heart." (Same band as #2, and it got tons of radio play here.)
17.
"Sunday all the lights of London, shining sky is fading red to blue" -David Gray, "Babylon"
18. "There is a fountain that was not made by the hands of man" (This one is obscure: I admit it. From KBCO Studio C Volume 16. Track #1.)
19. "There's always some reason to feel not good enough" (Oh, come on,
somebody must know this one!!! Feral Rosemary loves this song!)
21. "'Well give me all you got, but not love/ No, not love,' she said" (Mmm. Not sure how much this song is played except on KBCO. Can you tell by now I mostly listen only to one radio station? A very thoughtful song about a very screwed up girl. Artist's initials are J.J.)
22. "With no chance of early parole/ You don't get out until you get some soul." (When I found out this artist wasn't black, I died inside a little.)
23. "You can be mad in the morning/ I'll take back what I said." (Way overrated guy; this song is an OK one of his -- his worst I've heard is "Your Body is a Wonderland.")
24."You can sleep a little longer/ You can dream another dream beside me" (Another somewhat obscure one, but the last track from KBCO Studio C Volume 16.)
25. "You were only waiting for this moment to be free." (Another Beatles tune from the same album but different artist as #9.)
