Do the Blue Badger! - one page comic I did for the @rftazine
late asf melanin beam challenge from @creatingblackcharacters : Nick, Mia and Edgeworth from Ace Attorney
Maya and Pearl!!
I wanted to push myself a little more creatively, so instead of keeping the setting in Japanifornia, we are now in Kenyafornia
I based this version of Kurain Village (which i don’t have a name for) off of the Maasai, since I felt like the general shapes of their cultural wear would translate well onto the existing designs for Maya and Pearl
I went with brighter colors and more yellows to mimic the color palette of Maasai clothing (and to tie Mia in more) but I can’t decide if it makes them look too different to be easily recognizable
if narumitsu are dating, edgeworth calls phoenix his partner. phoenix if he reveals their relationship at all calls edgeworth his boyfriend but normally just says "edgeworth" with no identifier. edgeworth thinks boyfriend is juvenile which is why he won't say it. phoenix agrees which is why he insists on saying it. he thinks it's funny to say "my boyfriend, the chief prosecutor". however he thinks edgeworth calling him his partner makes them sound like colleagues. edgeworth is like, that's the idea. this debate settles when they finally get married and both generally stick to "husband" (edgeworth reverts to partner when stressed) but maya gets up to give her best maya speech and is like "edgeworth i don't know what you expected when nick's been introducing me as 'this is maya, she's my... uhh, she's maya' for almost twenty years"
decide to draw this new art trend as franzy and edgeworth... i think it fits them well
