Week of Demise 2026: July 19th - July 25th

I sincerely apologize for the delay in planning Week of Demise this year. This year will be a bit different: there is no survey to decide which week the art week is held on.

This year, I have decided that Week of Demise will be on the week of July 19th - July 25th. As per tradition, I will follow through with dropping the prompt list a month in advance to give artists time to prepare.

As a refresher, this is a fan-held art week for Shuuen no Shiori. Participants can create and share artwork (of any medium) corresponding to one or more of the four given prompts per day.

For Tumblr, post your artwork to the tag #week of demise or #weekofdemise. On other platforms, you may use the equivalent #weekofdemise tag. If posting to AO3, you may post to the collection weekofdemise.

See the website for more info.

darkacademiaarchivist asked:

I had to read a Heinlein book for a literature class on sci-fi and it was HORRIBLE and the only thing that got me though it was thinking "it's time for more Deep Thoughts With Heinlein(tm)" what a strange man this author was...

comicaurora answered:

my working theory is that the most foundational works of literature in a given genre are the ones that inspire the most concepts and tropes that are carried forward in the genre and this inspiring property is frequently because there is, to simplify, something deeply wrong with them

So, uh... following that train of thought... what's deeply wrong with the Lord of the Rings?

Johnald Ronald Rolkien Tolkien built fifteen different elvish languages and wrote poetry in all of them and you ask me what was wrong with him
