Actually a really good time. It's on Rt. 2 (look kids..!) and is about 30 to 45 minutes from my house. Bring a picnic lunch, and maybe a frisbee, as the lawns are really nice and it has the occasional shaded park bench. I never did manage to make it into the museum, so if anyone else wants to pick a good weather day and make a trip of it I'm game.
In other news, the job (yay!) that I started on the 2nd is going fine, although rendering me to toast by the end of the day. I'm really not used to being so energetic for 80% of the day. I have been assured that it is normal to experience homicidal feelings towards my co-workers for not doing their work. I was hired in week 4 of a 3 week project. (Riiight...) The erstwhile co-workers are taking Monday off however, so it might be less frustrating with them not around. Still, it's a good place all things considering; the other employees are more capable and I wouldn't mind working there for the long term.
Meme: The Big Read
The Big Read* reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well let's see.

Recipe refrence post; Kvass, sourdough and Cholent
I've been thinking about making a Russian rye bread based short beer for an A&S project. It combines several things Ive been gaining an interest in, mainly baking (although I've been avoiding sourdough), and brewing. So looking at the recipes I've decided I might be crazy. It looks like it will be quite a project, especially time wise, more so if I decide to make my own rye to make it.
Rye Bread recipe (3 days), requires sourdough starter...
Sourdough Starter, takes approximately 5 days. (?!!)
All of these recipes are from a, erm... Well I suppose I shouldn't throw any stones, a traditional foods/ organic/ holistic organization. Really weird. Probably correct, in some cases, but still weird. (Eat liver! Cod liver oil for the win! Bone marrow is good for white blood cell count!)
One of the interesting recipes that I came across was a Jewish one for the Sabbath. We were thinking about going kosher for Pennsic right? Does this look at all feasible? And Rach', your mom might like it for the next holiday, slow-cookers don't count right? Then again, she might already make it...
Home again, home again...
I got to a Military Sci-Fi panel which had David Weber on it (yay!), which despite the rather dry topic (difference between war porn and war novels, where the dividing line is) was very good. It was probably because not only were the panelists good speakers the Mod wasn't a Mil Sci-Fi fan and was able to say, "Ok, off topic, shut up because you've gone on too long," while still letting the discussion progress.
I wasn't able to get an autograph from Weber, wasn't able to grab my copy of War God's Own before leaving the house, but I left my program book at Dead Dog with a request to sign it. Hopefully I can pick it up at Nesfa eventually.
I'm still feeling a bit woozy from post con-crud, but should be up and about later on. For those who have been more distressed from my lack of progress at Scrabble I'll get around to it eventually.

Update...
The ongoing saga of my repeatedly dying car continues as well, if you haven't seen me in a while it's because my car has been kaput every time I would have gone out.
Beth, this is for you. Or for anyone else out there who really only wanted a game where the method of winning was to slap the hell out of your female in-laws.
Dalek socks. One of the few motivators to really get me into knitting.
