it's been a minute, (ha, funny how I usually start all my entries like that) I'm on R&R right now; it kind of sucks, I'm just spinning my wheels in Cali. I'm getting the run around by a couple of my friends and it's pretty fucking annoying, I mean, shit, I'm only here for eighteen days before I get sent back in country; and I'm putting off family to hang out with you and you flake out? fuck you.
but I am getting my fill of survivorman and man vs. wild. Both those shows are absolutely amazing. That's it really, been working on the mods for the Dahlia, and getting a bunch of new gear....which sucks.
wow, it's been a looooooong time since I've been on here... I'm going to forgo any sort of grammatical poise and get down to the dirty work.
I'm in a new unit, goodbye Bragg, hi Hood. Texas sucks. Being LRS (long range surveillance) is awesome. We're pretty rockstar. (we're the only Airborne unit on Ft. Hood. all 160 of us are better than everyone else on that post) Zombie sleeve has been started. (pictures sometime) Chestpiece has been finished (finally, pictures sometime also) I bought an audi, dubbed her "the black dahlia" celebrated my I've got two years left in the Army day. (july fourth)
don't know if I'm going to reenlist or not... if I do, say hello to USSOC and me making official badass status. If I don't-hello california again.
I've been running a minimum of three miles a day for PT...before anything else like lifting, calisthenics, b/s like that. I feel pretty solid, but want to get up to about two hundred within the year, which is going to be hard running all the time like that.
shit, I havn't updated this thing in a minute; what have I been up to? -we got a new Platoon Leader, he's pretty cool. -I've done a ton of dismounted movements from my fob to set in kill teams. (six mile plus movement+ one hundred plus pounds of gear= SF selection's going to be cake) -Been planning out all the tattoos I'm getting when we're back. word. -Today was haircut day, the whole platoon shaved their heads, hah -We've been unofficially extended until November, who knows if it's going through or not. From what Gates said, all active duty Army units are now on a fifteen month rotation; but we don't know if he's planning to extend the units already here (like us) or what. We'll see when we get orders. -My computer's disk drive crapped out on me, bummer. Say goodbye to movie night. -I've fallen back in love with comic books, more specifically anything that has to do with Rick Spears, Rob G, Brian Wood, or any combination of the three. -Getting back in shape, I ended up fucking my wrist up a while back and stopped going to the gym; goal by the time I get home- one eighty and running a sub-twelve minute two mile. It shouldn't be too tough.
That's it!
oh, our PL wants a platoon name...if you guys have any ideas, shoot.
I feel like I've been losing touch a bit. It's kind of weird, since I don't have any real time to think about things like that. I can just see the number of people back home that were once such constant pillars in my life just kind of disappearing.
it's been a while since I've been on here, the last couple of months been pretty tough. Our whole company's been trying to recover from losing Baroncini and Bicknell, plus Lt. Cerroni and Winkler from November, God rest their souls. Between that and some of the crap our chain of command is pulling, most everyone's stressed out quite a bit. The big news is that I'm coming home in eight (8!) days, it's going to be fucking awesome to come home, and after the grenade attack we had the other day; (we had people trying to land grenades in our turrets during a patrol in the city over hospital walls)right on time. Being home's going to be pretty stressful, just in the sense that the whole family's going to want to see me and make a huge deal out of things, oh well, that's family.
Nothing much else, I'm sure there are stories I could write, but nothing really seems that exciting, haha, there have been more than a few close calls though.
THAT'S IT.!
Beth, I'm not sure if my letter got to you, so I'm sending you a new one.
haha, I've been reading the posts from the last few days, been pretty pissed off. Everything's getting straightened out with QRF so our stress level should drop some, I hope.
Other than that, been pretty busy taking ballistics classes and bribing our armorer to get some better shit on my rifle until our M-14s are fixed up. I might be coming home on leave quite a bit sooner than I was hoping for, but fuck it; it's still R&R. That's it for now.
