Hiya
We're visiting on above dates and staying Karolinenhof. Hope to do Lange nacht, but are there any other interesting/quirky/off the beaten track things going on which we can show the friends we are bringing?
thanks!!
Hi all,
My name is Roxy, I am currently an undergrad at University of Michigan, but I have high hopes of moving to Berlin for a year or so after graduation. I have taken german throughout college and also visited Berlin twice since. Basically, the appreciation for arts/culture, rich history, and generally how livable the city is draws me to it.
Have any of you done a year-off type thing in Berlin (or anywhere similar), and can offer me some insight? I am still entirely unsure about whether to do this, but I'm sure some input from you all would help!!
Vielen Dank :D
Greetings and Good Tidings!
I am looking for advice on intentional community/communal oriented living in Berlin. Specifically I would really love to live within a larger community of artists (circus performers if possible!) and/or those who find organic and local food important.
I will be living in Berlin from January 2011 - August 2011, though perhaps extended on either side of that range. I speak very basic German (though I'm hoping to do some intensive work this summer and fall to get better) and have lived in Berlin for six months prior to this period.
I am 22 and am a recent college graduate (come May!) to commit to joining a communal group that may be looking for a person willing to spend a longer time period for the communal aspect to develop, but I think I have a lot of fun and excitement to offer and I think I make a very interesting (in a good way) housemate.
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I am selling two twin XL foam mattresses from IKEA. Used only 3 months, very comfortable, and in perfect condition. These also can be stored very easily so they would be great for that weekend guest! I am looking for 45 euro for the two of them or 30 euros each; thought I would see if anyone here is in the market.
Expatriates, how many of you have experience with moving funds from a German checking account, specifically Deutsche Bank, to your American checking account? I am at a loss for ideas aside from withdrawing everything and making a travel's check but even that seems like a backwards way of accomplishing what I want to do.
Any thoughts?
Thank you!

The last recommendation I received for medical treatment was spot on, thank you! Now, I am looking for an English speaking dermatologist. Haha, I know it sounds like I am a health disaster. I have heard good things about Dr. Raoul Hasert but he doesn't have an available appointment until mid-November. Anyone you could recommend who I could see earlier? Thank you, my fellow expatriates, and I hope you're enjoying the sun; I feel like I haven't seen anything but rain for weeks!
In Neukölln to be exact and I have, yet again, turned to the fantastic members of this community for advice. My German is rudimentary, enough to where I can function, but certainly not proficient. I am here on a tourist visa which expires in December. My question for you is: am I doomed to be without a job? Where should I look? Do you know of anyone that is hiring?
I graduated in August with a Bachelor's of Arts with a major in Philosophy. I have a background of doing everything from selling flowers to working as an administrative assistant for academic programs.
So, any thoughts?
Also, if anyone's interested, we should meet up for coffee! An ex-pats Berlin lunch date :)
