this video makes me so much more pumped for this movie

it would've been watched by now provided this was my computer, and not my roommates, new compy or repaired one soon.

also job perks

rise against played here last night at the cunard center, with Silverstein and Comeback Kid, i wasn't scheduled to work, until i got an email from a friend saying she couldn't make it to work, and told me to take her shift. score! take the shift, worked the food station, which had the best view of the show, then sent home just before rise against went on, and was told to "enjoy the show, thanks for coming in" so, immediately get changed, and rush the stage. I was happy, ran into some fredericton friends as well.

i love it here to death, but, i really miss all of you.

now i'm hoping that series of events happens next week atthe white stripes show.

after waking up with 15 minutes to get to work
after the clang of me panicing and trying my fastest to get ready
after the $10 cab ride thinking i was going to be late for work
I was was 8 hours early

fuck you karma

I guess since i did have an amazing day yesterday, that it would come back to this. Tax return, finally came in, with $200 more than i was expecting, so went out and got some new kicks, paid some bills, went to Jeremy's where we decided to kick up our old musical project Quadratic, and i'm more than stoked to write with that guy again. I was getting just plain bored with writing solo, and folk it gets boring to play, electronica is fun as hell to write.

Also picked up on my music collection yesterday ala Jeremy's computer got some old rilo kiley demos, the new bright eyes, air's talkie walkie, and some Peaches, as well today where i found the Kiss Me Deadly album, as well as finally picked up the MSTRKRFT cd, picked up a discman while on my way back home, when i got here, discovered one of the best covers i've heard in a long time.

The Gossip covering George Micheal's Careless Whisper!

check out their other songs as well, i've been obsessed with this band for awhile. Beth Ditto is the ultimate display of the fierce female rocker. talking with Corrine, we decided she has the soul of Aretha Franklin, the intensity of Janis Joplin, and i'll add the attitude of Bikini Kill/Le Tigre's Kathleen Hannah.

now to think about things i should be doing.

Halifax update

so, here's what i've been doing in my time in halifax

after three weeks of unemployment, i found a job. I work where Lori works with RCR Hospitalities, based out of the Cunard Center, also do stuff at Pier 21, and other places around town. It is by far the best, and easiest job I've ever had. I have enjoyed jobs in the past, but never loved a job. The people I work with are a lot fun to work with, really friendly, and we hang out all the time outside of work. And the work, well, mindless, a bit physical, but i'm not in a hot kitchen with an endless amount of work pretending nothing is wrong and not rushed to get out because of labour costs.

I haven't done much in the city, I'm excited for friday because i'm off at 5 and George and Kira (Team Rocket) will be playing at One World, i miss those guys.

also, a note to Vaughn.
Your birthday is this weekend, are you still going to be in town?

back to the update, I've just been hanging out with people from work, a few old school friends here and there when i see them. I need to see more shows, thats for sure. I also need to get my ass in gear with own music.

Still love it here, don't think that will change.

So, in case you haven't heard, I'm living in Halifax now.

So far the change has been exactly what I needed. I do love fredericton, but I just couldn't stay there much longer. My job sucked, I felt i was pulled into the routine life of sleep, work, party, and eat somewhere inbetween. I wasn't happy, so i opted for change, and I love it here.

although the no money thing right kind of sucks as I'm searching for work. Waiting to hear back from Mexi's, and a few other restaurants downtown, had an interview at Peddlar's Pub, they won't be hiring until June though. I've said many times I'd never go back to the restaurant industry, but when you need a job right away, you can never be too picky.

The house I'm living in is so far pretty awesome, the roommates are easy to get along with, not too far from downtown, and musicians all around.

I do miss my friends in f'ton though, and I keep thinking I see them, but I also keep thinking I see my halifax friends, like today I was on Spring Garden, and i thought i saw Treva at Gatsby's, I was about to go sneak up behind when i realized it wasn't him. Glad i didn't follow through.

Tomorrow I wait around for phone calls, set up my gear in our jam room, set up the printer so i don't waste all of Lori's ink, and continue the search for employment.
