Contacting Ben
Has anyone ever written to him? Asked for a signed photo? Helmet? Sweaty set of leathers? Am planning to give it a go, but am new at this MotoBoi meeting thing. I am an old pro and Rockers...
What's new with Ben?
I was just wondering what was up with our favorite hellion on wheels. How is the Honda team doing?
Last week I got a VHS of the 2001 Superbike Racing Season Highlights in which Ben wins 6 of the 26 races!!!
This was the year he swept Laguna Seca and MAN, it makes you breathless to watch these guys do what they do, I can't imagine what it would be like in person. I hope to get to a SBK event where he is some time.
Well, happy Saturday to you all!

Four years ago: Clinton was in the White House, Dot com millionaires were spending freely that summer and Ben Bostrom won his first and only AMA Superbike race. It happened at Brainerd and the win was a double whammy since it was also Ducati's last AMA Superbike victory in America. more>>

Who Needs A Win The Most?
(From the USSuperBike Website)
This weekend's Brainerd round of the AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Superbike Championship is an opportunity for several riders in need of a win to add to their trophy collection. With the season halfway completed, the time is now to make things right for 2003, whatever a rider's situation might be.
Superbike: Honda's Ben Bostrom
Ben Bostrom's return to America hasn't gone as planned. The former World Superbike race winner and AMA Superbike Champion was expected to contend for race wins and the title; many insiders considered Benny to be perhaps the favorite. Ben was sharp from strapping on his helmet against the world guys, he had landed in last year's champion's seat, and he was reunited with Merlyn Plumlee, the crewchief he teamed with to win the 1998 title in his last year with Honda.
But it hasn't turned out that way. Ben started strong at the December tire test at Daytona and was a robust second in the 200 in March. However, he still hasn't found the magic on the Honda RC51. Most of his races this year have seen him lapping behind the leaders and finishing further back than anyone would imagine. Bostrom did look stronger in the opening laps of the dry Road America race, but couldn't manage the pace of the leaders for all 16 laps.
The problem is front-end feel, finding the elusive zone that will allow Ben to ride hard with confidence. Bostrom has ridden Ducati twins since 1999 and the Italian version of the V-twin race bike with its trellis-framed chassis is, according to Bostrom, "completely different" than the Japanese bike.
Can Brainerd be an oasis for the Californian? The RC51 has always done well at the Minnesota track, known for its simple layout and reliance on horsepower and drafting. After Road America, Ben was visibly angry at his lack of results this year. Maybe a more "aggro" approach would benefit him in Minnesota. More>>

WSC Wild Card Decisions Getting Easier

(From the AMA Superbike Website)
Anthony Gobert and the Austin Ducati team splitting up seems to have settled the matter of which AMA riders get entry into the Laguna Seca WSC event.
There were six positions open and presumably seven riders who desire entry--although American Honda has been on the fence whether they wanted to enter their riders at all. If they don't, it will be a massive blow to Ben Bostrom and the event itself. Gobert, Bostrom and Miguel DuHamel are huge crowd draws at Laguna WSC.more>>
