ART THEFT

ART THEFT

Someone isn’t playing nice. Someone stole my artwork. and is making a profit off of it. I sent something to RedBubble. I hope they stop him. Ultimately, I’d like any of his profits, but we know that isn’t going to happen.

Here’s my Link: http://www.redbubble.com/people/pa…

Bastard pulled the background and dropped in a moon that DOESN”T EVEN MATCH the style.

Thank God my husband was doing a reverse image lookup.

I don’t know if it’ll help, but If you want to call him on the art theft, go for it. I guarantee the rest of his portfolio isn’t his.

I wish I was as happy as my profile pic

So, yeah.

I mostly am, but there are days like today where I feel like going to therapy is justified. I feel like my life is just cleaning, doing horribly at that, and then food prep. When I finally sit down to be creative, nothing comes out. I haven't touched my comic in two years. I've got two big illustration gigs that I'm stalled on.  None of my clothes fit. I went to a party yesterday (and it was a great party) but I felt I could contribute nothing to the conversations. And I want to see my grandfather, even if he may not remember me.

I will feel better, but right now, this is how i feel.

"Dreams are weird, and they scare me." - Rose Walker, Sandman

The other night, I had a dream right out of a Golden Age Superman, with a modern twist. I dreamt that Metropolis legalized gay marriage, and wanted Superman to officiate several of the couples at the same time to show his support. But what he didn't know was that Luthor donated all the wedding bands and jewelry, and of course, they were all Kryptonite. I'm not quite sure how Superman saved the day, but I do remember some drag queen bridesmaid kicking the crap out of a LuthorBot.

Let's put it out there and see what happens.

I am looking for work. Plain and simple. And I know some of you have events happening. Some major, some minor.

You need a graphic, I'm your gal. Need a thank you card or save the date? Let me know. A special one of a kind Valentine? Hit me, I can take it. You want a Dalek popping out of a birthday cake? Let's talk.

Attention all friends of Aaron Korch of Provincetown, MA (Also known as Tern the Page and Forrest Dump). Please check in on Aaron and see if he's okay. He hasn't checked in with his parents for over a month, and they're extremely worried. Please have him call home.

And if by some chance you're reading this Aaron: Go Home. I don't know what happened, and at this point I don't think your parents care. Just please let them know you're safe. I'm here for you 24/7 if you need help. I've been in a similar position before.

Comic Creator's Alliance 2011

Comic Creator's Alliance 2011
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” -Margaret Mead

Tuesday, January 11th is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. In honor of the event, I teamed up with the Comic Creator’s Alliance – a group of over 100 comic book creators (of both web and print) who volunteered our artistic talents to raise money and awareness for this cause. You may not know it, but there are currently 27 million enslaved people worldwide- more than double the number of enslaved Africans during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. UNICEF estimates that 1.2 million children every year are sold into slavery, most of it sexual. The US Department of Justice estimates 16,000 victims of human trafficking are brought into the United States every year. Unlike slavery in the 19th century, what is happening today is happening in secret. It won’t end until awareness is raised, and people like you and me take a stand.

So here’s what we did: each creator contributed an original drawing of one of our own female characters and combined them into a single image! This year's theme was "The Brady Bunch." There is so much going on in this image -- you can look at the wallpaper for a long time and still find something new! All of the artists included in the drive are amazing and some of the fan favorites are: Scott Sava (The Dreamland Chronicles), Adam Hughes (Star Wars, Wonder Woman), Sarah Ellerton (Inverloch), Bryan Glass & Victor Santos (Mice Templar), Beau Smith (Wynonna Earp: The Yeti Wars), Billy Tucci (Shi), Mookie (Dominic Deegan), Crystal Yates (Earthsong), Lora Innes (The Dreamer), Thom Zahler (Love and Capes), and Alison Action (Bear Nuts). View the full listing of contributors here: http://comicalliance.weebly.com/th…le.html.

Donate today to download this unique, once-in-a-lifetime wallpaper. Or, this year you can buy a print! The Donations Drive will last for two weeks, from January 11th – 24th. All proceeds will be split evenly between Love 146 and Gracehaven House - two organizations working on rehabilitation of victims and prevention of this crime.

Nudity and sexuality in Comics

Last night I was working on the Swiftriver page that goes up sometime tonight. There is an image in there that can be deemed "Not Safe For Work."

Here's the thing: I created a scene where I had to draw my own personal line as to where to censor my comic. I've shown gore (the Spider Lady Splatter fest), I've had people swearing (the occasional shit and fuck), I've even shown bare breasts, though not in a sexual context. So I consider Swiftriver to be a PG-13 if I had to give it a rating.

But Bowie is a ladies man, and enjoys sex. Eventually, I would hit a point in my story where nudity would come into play in a sexual sense. The scene I wrote doesn't even have full frontal nudity or anything. Want to know what I was agonizing over?

A naked butt.

I mean, honestly, I've seen more than that in a typical National Geographic magazine. Art museums have naked butts all the time. And not just in an art context (If you want blatant ancient Greek art/porn, go check out the Greek pottery exhibit at the MFA. Seriously. This was not worshiping the art of the nude, people. This is what this internet was in 1000 BC.)

So my dilemma was "should I show the naked butt or not?" And I ended up with "not." I ended up drawing panties on her. Not because I was ashamed. I just feel at this point that if anyone in the comic should be nude in a sexual sense, it should probably be one of the main characters. And I don't plan on having any of them naked at any point in the near future. I still feel it's titillating and sexy, I just don't want to waste the opportunity on a third-string character at this point.
