Personality: Rewind is a pretty personable bot! He’s often described as excitable and cheerful, and he’s quite sociable. He’s definitely outgoing and likes people and is often seen hanging around in large groups, although he’s not usually the center of attention. He’s more of the “party host” type -- Rewind delights in facilitating a good time for others. He’d rather be the one who threw the cool party everyone talks about for weeks afterward than necessarily be the center of it. Rewind is the curious sort -- he’s interested in knowledge in general but particularly history, seeing as he’s a walking archive of data and footage, much of it recorded by himself. Rewind is a history and film enthusiast -- he likes to document history as it happens and he almost reflexively starts recording from his convenient head-mounted vidcam whenever something interesting starts happening. He’s a hobbyist curator of Cybertronian history, a collector -- or a data hoarder, depending on who you ask. The massive amounts of data he has stored in his archives mean that his recall and retrieval can be a little delayed, at times -- he doesn’t always remember what he’s trying to access right away, and the recall sometimes comes at an inconvenient time. Occasionally he gets data retention headaches from the sheer volume of what he’s collected. Boy does he ever love trivia, though.

Rewind’s got a creative streak, too! After living for several million years with a camera bolted to your head, you tend to get a little artistic. Rewind doesn’t just enjoy recording history -- he likes making it, too; he’s been known to edit together his own little reels and even work on a few documentaries of his own. Rewind seems like your everyday cheerful kind of bot, but he’s got sort of an odd, occasionally morbid sense of humor -- he’s given to biting little quips and asides that seem to go unnoticed half the time, and Rewind’s idea of a good time is dragging your buddy’s comatose body to the bar for an evening of storytelling. He’s been around for a long, long time, but he’s persevered. He’s also not as squeamish as you might guess at a glance -- in his determined quest to confirm the death of his former conjunx endura, Dominus Ambus, he’s sifted through countless hours of gruesome footage. He’s far from unshakable, but he’s still standing after being forced to record the D.J.D.’s massacre of his Lost Light -- but it probably helps that he looks at an awful lot through his camera lens. He’s definitely not a soldier, but he’s pretty brave -- to the point of occasionally going into dangerous situations just to prove he can.

Rewind is a lot of things, determined among them. His devotion to his current conjunx endura, Chromedome, through some pretty rigorously difficult times, and his dedication to finding some confirmation of what happened to Dominus are both pretty remarkable. He’s an emotional and intuitive person -- he’s not half bad at talking to others about their feelings, given the chance, and he’s quick to offer advice. He doesn’t always take his own advice, though, and Rewind is far from without his own problems -- he has some trouble letting things go, and while he’s pretty kind and generous overall, he’s definitely not perfect. He has the capacity to be kind of a dick at times, and he sure can get on the passive aggressive side when he feels slighted. He’s got a bit of a -- totally deserved -- complex about his alt mode, a memory stick, which in the previous Functionist regime had made him part of the “disposable” caste. Rewind’s been through a lot, and he remembers it all -- in some form or another.
