Alatai, real name Shamis Khassenov, is a DJ and Producer born in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He began his musical journey as a pianist at fifteen before discovering his true passion - electronic music. After finding a CD filled with music production tools, he was hooked for good. In the twenty years since, he has been working endlessly to perfect his unique blend of trance, techno, and house. Alatai’s career has been defined by versatility. He has amassed huge numbers of views on YouTube by blending the cinematic grandeur of his originals with the official music for an internationally viewed Rolex ad. His two solo albums, however, are the best representation of him as a musician. Each one contains a dynamic mix of tracks that borrows from nearly every sub-genre of electronic music imaginable. Shamis took a brief hiatus to focus on his career in the financial sector, but music was never far from his mind. He recently re-emerged, newly inspired and embracing a fusion of melodic techno and progressive house. With a steady stream of new releases scheduled and ambitions for global tours, he is poised to make a major impact in electronic music.
