James Rigby is a name that has swiftly sewn itself into theUK trance scene over the past couple of years. Founder andco-promoter of Manchester trance night Rong; he has madea firm impression both on and off the dance floor.Sparking a passion for music from an early age andspending much of his teenage years clocking-up thebedroom hours mastering the decks; his diligent attitudecoupled with perfectionist traits have seen his offeringsflourish so far – with a lot more still to come!After forging an instant love affair with the trance scene as aclubber, his musical direction was grasped, moulding anastounding appreciation for the diversity of the music and itscontribution to the world of electronic dance. James’senthusiasm for the genre soon translated beyond his lovefor the decks, igniting a self-initiated vision in the process…Being a regular clubber and therefore a true pragmatistabout the scene, he recognised the lack of opportunity foraspiring DJs, particularly with the decline in smaller trancenights. Not being one to sit back quietly, this sparked thevision to start up a night. T his was dedicated purely to thelove of the music, as well as providing precious opportunityfor DJs like himself to play the music they love. After a fewconscientious months of mastering the plan, the vision soonbecame a reality and Rong Manchester was born!Since then James has become a regular name in UK Trancescene notching up some impressive gigs for renownedbrands such as Godskitchen, Garuda, Digital Society,Goodgreef, Off the Rails & T he Warehouse Project; as wellas headlining his first international gig in Malta.A keen amorist of the technical art of DJing, never beingafriad to evolve with the latest technology and pushperformance boundaries to enhance the quality of the DJexperience; James has showcased his ability as a highlytechnical and creative performer who is always raising hisgame.His skill, versatility and presence behind the decks hasseen him grace some of the UK’s most prestigious venues;including Sankeys Bassment (Main Room), Air Birmingham,Club Tall Trees (Main Room), the infamous Store Street(WHP), 53 Degrees, Plug Sheffield, Area 51 and Venus the Club.T hroughout 2012 alone James has supported animpressive selection of the trance elite including; Armin VanBuuren, Paul Oakenfold, Dash Berlin, Paul Van Dyk, EddieHalliwell, Sander Van Doorn, Gareth Emery, Cosmic Gate, Aly& Fila, John O’Callaghan, Alex M.O.R.P.H, Arty, BryanKearney, Ferry Corsten, Greg Downey, Heatbeat, JochenMiller, John Askew, Jordan Suckley, Markus Schulz, MennoDe jong, Simon Patterson, W&W, Ben Gold, Tritonal, ClaudiaCazacu and Giuseppe Ottaviani to name a few.A true example of how hard work and persistence can makea vision become a reality; James Rigby has a lot more tocome…and we’ll be sure to know about it when it does!
