André Thorwirth

ANDRÈ THORWIRTH. He started his DJ career in his hometown of Suhl, which, as the district capital of the former East Germany (DDR), was the hottest disco and club hub in the region at the time. It wasn't surprising that André found himself behind a mixing console and operating cassette decks for the first time at the young age of 14 in the school disco. He quickly developed a liking for making people dance to his musical tunes and soon became the "resident DJ" of his school. After the fall of the Berlin Wall and the transformation of the nation in 1989/1990, a small but lively party scene emerged in Suhl, where André showcased his definition of dance music to the audience in clubs like INSIDER and LE FREAK until 1992. "First, I'll play, then I'll explain what it was!" - this quote by MILES DAVIS became his motto. Inspired by DJ legends like SVEN VÄTH, André started to expand his music style from EBM (Electric Body Music) towards electronic music. In 1991, he made his mark in the techno scene under the alias BLAXX, organizing his first techno parties with JANA CLEMEN and DJ GROOVY at the LE FREAK club in Suhl. As a well-known DJ in the scene, he held the turntables at MIAMI PARK from 1993 to 1995, which was the largest club in Suhl at the time, establishing himself as a prominent DJ. Influences from artists such as KRAFTWERK, DEPECHE MODE, MOBY, CHEMICAL BROTHERS, JAMES BROWN, PRINCE, and AFRICA BAMBAATAA shaped his DJ sets, which he refined under the DJ BLAXX moniker, especially at the scene club WAX. In parallel with his resident engagements, André's dream came true in 1998 when he opened his own club called E-TEC, located on the outskirts of the neighboring town of Zella-Mehlis in the vaults of the former ROBOTRON company. It didn't take long for the party scene to take notice, as DJ luminaries like MARCO ZAFFARANO, MONIKA KRUSE, TOK TOK, ELLEN ALIEN, or the American DENHARD HENRY took turns spinning records here. Owning his own club also gave André the opportunity to showcase his underground sound in other scene venues across Germany. Highlights of this era included gigs at LOVETRAIN TO BERLIN, the SONNE, MOND, STERNE Festival, or at the BIENSTÄDTER WARTE. André impresses with deep roots in disco, funk, soul, house, and electro music. In his continuous quest for new sounds, he values ongoing development, sometimes reinventing himself, and taking people along on his musical journeys. In addition to guest appearances in Spain, Norway, and Egypt, André, as the founder of DEEPNBOLD-RECORDS since 2012, has also been producing his own tracks. As a producer since 2012, he enjoys navigating a musical tightrope between different styles, much like his DJ sets. From atmospheric ambient and chill-out sounds to nu-disco, dirty house, minimal, electronica, mellow, dub, deep house, as well as tech-house and techno, André's decades of experience enable him to continually delight listeners with his creative sound blends. So, one can look forward to what the future holds for him because, as KRAFTWERK stated in 1986, "Music will always continue, serving as a carrier of ideas."
