Joma Route

Bidding farewell to his homeland in South America in 2017, Joma embarked on a decodification journey primarily through the exploration of new sounds and music. His first stop was Texas, where he began learning about music production and continued his path as a guitarist, playing in Houston’s bluesy rock bars with local ensembles and bands. In 2019, he decided to cross the Atlantic as his grandfather once did, en route to establishing himself in Barcelona, Spain—a place that deepened his captivation with electronic music. There, he began expanding his reference catalog and exploring his favorite European music labels. In 2020, he launched his solo project, striving to perfect the balance between subtlety and precision. For the past years, Joma has been consistently working on his craft, experimenting with sound design techniques and producing what he strives to achieve: a partially organic electronic arrangement with minimal cozy grooves and hypnotic low ends, all locked within an ever-evolving immersive atmosphere. He remains open to a wide range of tempos, enchanted by downtempo velocities as well as beats reaching up to 130 BPM. His latest EP, released via the Barcelona-based label Mutant Magic, marked the first milestone of this journey, also featuring reinterpretations of his sounds by talented artists such as Malik Faquir and Miret. Currently based in Madrid, he continues his exploration to uncover new intentions and inspirations for upcoming productions.
