On the left is Blair. She's around 2 years old, and I picked her up at Animal Control. I've had her for a month or so, and she's just darling.

On the right is Damien. I bought him from a breeder when he was 6 weeks old. He's a Red Tick Beagle (which accounts for his orangey coloring and the ticking on his legs) and he turned a year on September 13th.

My Beagle Peanut is 4 years old. She has epliepsy and is on phenobarbital to control the seizures and she has only had one or two since she started which is vast improvement from the 2 or 3 a month she was having. However, a couple weeks ago she had an allergic reaction to something, and her neck was swollen, she had hives, and also was vomiting. We rushed her to the only open vet on a sunday and he gave her like four different meds. She started acting very strange. She peed on the floor, started eating everything in sight including some very important things to me. Well after doing some research we found that the one drug actually lowered her threshold for a seizure. We immediately stopped her on that medicine. (I was a little annoyed that the vet didn't know better). We figured this would solve the problem... But alas it hasn't. I've found her pulling books off bookshelves, peeing on the floor, pooping on the floor, eating granola bars and their wrappers, all you have to do is turn your back one second and she probably finds something.
Then my mom suggested that perhaps she was having a weird reaction to my pregnancy hormones. Anybody know if this is possible? I just know my husband and I would really like to have our nice peaceful dog back, not this crazy heathen dog. We've tried several training methods on her that were what originally trained her when I got her a couple years ago.

Hi! My name is Cat, and I have a 14-month-old male red tick beagle named Damien.

Now, Damien can be a bit high strung (as beagles are). After much consideration, I decided that I wanted to keep an eye out for a playmate/ girlfriend for Damien.

I was at Animal control, and I found Blair. They're so cute together, and we had several playdates before finally having her fixed (because Damien isn't) and bringing her home.

It's been about three weeks since she's been here, and they are SO crazy. I don't really know what to do. I love Damien, and Blair tries really hard to be good, but the just run and play fight ALL DAY LONG. If Blair has a toy, Damien MUST have it, and vice versa. They bark constantly at each other and if I put all the toys away (hoping perhaps they'll calm down) they just fight and play and fight.

And I'm not really kidding. They do this for hours and hours. I've yet to see them NOT act like this. Because I work, and my boyfriend works, we're crate-training them, but they don't spend more than a few hours in their crates at a time (usually my hours overlap Chris' hours, so the dogs have a lot of time with at least one of us).

I just don't know how to promote calm, loving behavior between the two of them. They're so wild when they're together.

And help? Please?

Hi Copper and I are new to the community

Here are some pics of Copper he is two years old. I Adopted him from Beagles and Buddies Dec 2007 at 14 months.
Best decision I have ever made as he is my best Buddy and pal and we do everything together.

He is also a model as he wears some fo the leather creations I make.

Hello, my name is Emilie, i live in the UK, i own 2 dogs, Mosh a Beagle and Mathilda, a British Bulldog. I joined the community bulldogfanz yesterday and found this one for beagles today , so i am posting a story here too...

Mosh is my husband Steve and I's first dog, we lived in London for years and then decided to move out to the countryside...for work reasons and so we could have a dog... we decided on a Beagle because of the obvious cuteness and little did we know how hard work those dogs are...

We browsed on the internet to find a Beagle breeder near us, as we both didn't drive at the time, we could not go far and we could not afford the £850 that a pure bred Beagle puppy cost but we found one on the internet... he was in a pet shop in Sutton, London and we asked the pet shop owner to send us a pic of him... well we were smitten and i travelled to London by train to go and pick him up... when i got to the pet shop, he was the only Beagle puppy there, he was sleeping and was looking so lost and frail there was no way i could not take him home... I'll always remember how small he was (12 weeks old) , the pet shop guy went to get him and i swear i almost cried when he gave him to me, i was so happy, and that puppy looked so sad and helpless, i swore i was going to take care of him properly... took him home on the train in a wicker basket and his new life with us started...

My husband Steve had never had a dog before whereas i had had dogs all my life from birth... it was a new thing for Steve and he did a wonderful job... we found out Mosh came from a puppy mill in Ireland, to this day we can't trace his origin and i know it was the wrong thing to do now but i simply could not leave him in that shop he would not have made it... Mosh came to us with health problems, he was pooing blood and mucus, had kennel cough and was really poorly... We got him insured and after many trips to the vet, he was on his feet, healthy and causing havoc in our life...chewing everything, stealing socks and underwear, being a naughty little puppy that we didn't have the heart to tell off, he was spoilt from day one and we love him to bits... he is now 2 and a half years old and i LOVE this dog so much i cant imagine life without him... he sleeps with us in our room, loves getting under the covers to lick our feet and have cuddles in the morning, he loves me to bits and cries when i leave the house, what can i say? he is a treasure...

There's my 1 year old beagle, Bandit. We rescued him in March from a family who didn't quite understand the needs of a beagle (they had him chained up in their garage). Since then he's taken quite nicely to the "family" life. And now, he's spoiled rotten. :)

I do have one question-
He loves to play with our two kittens. However, our two kittens don't really want to play with him (they hiss and swat and run away). Bandit gets attention from my husband and myself- we play ball with him, take him on walks, chase him around the house, etc. The longest he's ever left alone is 5 hours (and that's rare) as my husband and I work different shifts so one of us is usually home for him. And on the weekends, he goes everywhere with us. But he still tries to play with the cats. Do you think he needs a canine companion?

Another newbie to the community here. I'm Kelly, 19, from Ontario. I've always loved beagles and finally convinced my parents to let me get one when I had my tonsils out and they felt bad for me ROFL.

Anyways, here's my Cleo, she'll be 5 in may.

I was having a conversation with some co-workers about their dogs chewing up things they shouldn't be. My Beagle never did eat much of anything that wasn't a designated toy. She does have an obsession with paw licking that drives us nuts though. What are your experiences with these dog behavior topics and your beagles?  

Just wanted to say hello and post some pics of my new baby, Sawyer. He doesn't have the typical Beagle coloring, but I still think he's quite adorable ^^
